vvvslaxman Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 When you are under the pump it is easier to survive against a seamer during middle period than a spinner. One bad mistake of charging down the wicket or one bad forced shot or one mistake of not picking the ball from hand can cost you a wicket. Right arm seamer you can camp on the backfoot and push for singles all day. Once you get used to them you can line up against them. Bumrah is an exception. Every other bowler including Shami is perfectly hittable. Knuckle balls, slow balls are not exactly your best bet in every place. On true pitches these balls will travel. nevada and Stan AF 2

Bumrah sucked that entire match, what lesson did you learn? Went for 68 runs in 9 overs with 0 wickets compared to Bhuvi's 1 for 44. One match can be brought up to spout hate against any player. Using your logic Bumrah should be dropped Edited July 8, 2019 by New guy Switchblade and Samcric 1 1

Amit228 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Tomorrow's match will be played in overcast conditions.. with chances of rain.. so it will be frivolous to play two spinners together.. those who are carrying a pre conceived notion that new Zealand are dreadful against spinners needs to open their eyes nd see the light.. new Zealand had issues with spin but they have apparently worked hard on it.. nz batsmen specially kane nd ross were at utmost ease against kulcha in warm up match.. so it's no brainer going in with 4 seamers nd jadeja given overcast conditions.. nd pitches in England haven't been assisting spin .. one can look into the top wickets takes charts in wc2019 to corroborate the same. Even India's top wickets takers are seamers nd kulcha aren't setting stage on fire.. nd have potentially lost one game against England by giving a humongous 160 in their respective 20 overs.. the below is the score card of warmup match against nz.. nz batsmen didn't find it onerous to deal with kulcha either..
vvvslaxman Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 ^ From what i see Bhuvi is the most expensive bowler there. Bumrah is Bumrah. Not everybody is Bumrah. Second most expensive bowler is another seamer which is Pandya.

Where in England game we had witnessed godawful display of death bowling by shami.. heck even bangers tailenders were giving hack of a phainty to shami .. if not for bumrah we could have potentially lost that game.. kulcha nd shami hv lost india one game on their own i.e against England.. with conditions not assisting spin bowling i can see the trend continuing provided the two are playing together..

English pitches aren't assisting spin.. that has rendered kulcha pretty much futile... nd issue with kulcha is they aren't varying their pace.. in England game also when they were getting tonked they didn't had a plan B.. they could have tried to vary the pace.. with no spin nd pitch getting slower.. English batsmen adjusted commendably nd tonked innocuous 75 kmph pies dished by kulcha.. they kept on flighting on nd English batsmen kept on depositing over stand.. if u see in England only those spinners who have been varying their pace are successful to some extent..

Lolx i had switched off the tv in anticipation of loss.. it was flabbergasting to see shami getting phainty by a no name saifuddin.. shami is horrendous in death over.. has lost one game against England nd potentially could have lost one more against bangers.. with no one supporting bumrah at death overs opposition batsmen can line up shami any given day.

nevada Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Isn't it scary that other than Bumrah, all our bowlers can go for plenty and sink us with their inept bowling? Shami has been the most disappointing. After 2 magnificent bowling displays, he went the Jekyll-Hyde way. But between him and Bhuvi, I would still pick him. Mosher 1

Indian spinners did a good choking job in almost all the matches except one. They didn't take many risks against them. Australia struggled with their bowling due to lack of variety. Pakistan was clearly running away with the game until Hafeez made a cardinal mistake of holing Finch out in the deep. Australia had 4 pacers. The reason was Australian attack was one-dimensional. Maxwell was the lone spinner. Same Pakistan team came unstuck against us because they couldn't target our spinners with liberty. Against England first break through was provided by Kuldeep not pacers.

But the way shami was dishing out full tosses they needed a couple of edges here and there. Even Rubel was a capable slogger. Without Bumrah things could have gone wrong atleast in a couple of matches. Others are just piggybacking on Bumrah in the death overs.
Nikola Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Both plays in india's most important match of the worldcup. Let's see if this decision by kohli proves right or wrong.
