The Wicketless Trundler & The Wicketless Darter

Keep Bhuvi and Jadeja on the bench and we can win this tournament. If you want to play these guys, then get ready for another heartbreak like the Champions Trophy 2017 final!

Need to back our 4 wicket takers Bumrah, Shami, Kuldeep & Chahal at all costs. We have an excellent chance to take the cup back home if we get our bowling selection correct!

Lol, Jadeja did well in his first WC match this tournament. Would've gotten a 2nd wicket if not for Bhuvi's drop. Spoilt his figures. Now the prob with jadeja is his batting is unreliable. Plus who would you drop for him? So it is difficult to place him in the XI. As for Kulcha, only one of them is enough unless it's slow turning conditions.

Bhuvi is required at the death, so you would have to play Bhuvi along with Shami and Bumrah. Shami is required because he is a genuine wicket taker, but he is not a good death bowler. If he gives extra runs when bowling first, that could prove to be the difference when chasing.

Looks like you learnt absolutely nothing from the CT Final when we played defensive bowlers and lost big time to our rivals Pakistan.

We don't have defensive bowlers. Obviously Jadeja will not be the front line spinner. If at all he plays, he will be a support spinner in the middle overs, looking to contain. If his batting clicks like 2013 CT, it will provide strength to our lower order. Anyway, I doubt he'll play. Bhuvi is required for his death bowling, no one other than Bumrah can bowl at the death. So we'll have to play all three pace bowlers. As for Kulcha, depends on the conditions, playing two spinners especially when one of them is out of form, and other average in this tournament is not prudent, especially if it's a flat pitch/small boundaries. However if the conditons are slow and turning, then two of Jadeja/KulCha will play.

:hysterical: :hysterical:

Since January 1, 2016 - Present:

- Bhuvneshwar Kumar averages 34.58 in 55 matches.

- Ravindra Jadeja averages 47.16 in 31 matches.

Good luck winning the World Cup with these stupid bowlers.

It will be a fresh pitch

Kuldeep will be smashed out.

Not even god himself can save Jadeja on a fresh pitch. You already saw this in the WC 2015 semi final & CT 2017 final.

Kuldeep is a wicket taker that will win us matches. Don’t get fooled by our group game against England which was played with a 59M boundary on one side.

kuldeep has been utterly toothless at taking wkts this WC. recent form matters more than past record in bilaterals.

Kulcha a must against nzl ,they are still clueless against them .if it's a green wkt and overcast then off course a pacer comes in place of chahal/kuly.

Regarding jadeja ,he's worse than kulcha on a fresh pitch ,literally a cannon fodder

In fact, it's opposite. They are not good on slow pitches especially Kuldeep due to his slowness. Ball has hardly turned this WC.

Kane williamson had issues against Kuldeep. Quiet a few New zealanders too. Apart from the one match against England (even there his last 6 overs went only for 26 runs) Kuldeep has been very economical. Batsmen are tentative against him

Kuldeep's record at old trafford

9-0-32-2  vs Pakistan

9-0-35-1 vs West Indies

Now the semi is at old trafford. Now the choice is between Shami and Bhuvi. Play Jaddu and Kuldeep if you want. But not sure it is a good idea to play 4 right arm seamers against New zealand.

No. You don't  play the same team several times in this world cup. You play one team at a time. You don't field 4 seamers against a team like NZ. You need to have your own unique trump card.  Jadeja has  conned us so many times. A reason why we even kicked him out. IN a crunch game you need variety. You cannot go in with an one-dimensional attack of 4 right arm seamers. Pretty sure NZ will rather prefer facing Bhuvi instead of Kuldeep or Chahal at old trafford.  Santner a similar type bowler to Jaddu went for plenty at the old trafford. Bumrah, Shami, Pandya, Jaddu, Kuldeep or Chahal will provide a good variety. You can juggle the bowlers easily and  slow down the game  as and when necessary.

Can you tell me the combined average of kulcha in this WC? How are you having hope from them when they neither did anything last year nor this WC. It's not India. It's England. Pitches have hardly helped spin. All top wicket takers are pacers. You play bowlers who are most likely to give you wickets in these conditions. Spinners aren't those. You don't play someone on hope he will do this, he will do that.

Kuldeep Economy was under 5. May be the batsmen try to see them off instead of going after?  They bowl middle overs. Having seamers bowling for 40 overs will be highly counter productive. England had just one spinner. India almost got to the total even with chasing pressure. West Indies had so many seamers with almost no spinner. What did they achieve?  Australia had an iffy start with just one spinner. Then they brought in Lyon. Same way against Pakistan Kane did not have additional spinner so he had to bowl himself.  Stats don't tell you much. Spinners played subtle but effective role in this world cup in their own way. Most of the Amir's wickets happened during slog overs when batsmen tried to hit the bowlers.  India's best bet to control the middle overs is spinners not seamers. India is never good at that. Bumrah's most of the wickets were due to yorkers. Not exactly because of Pitch. Same way starc's wickets were not because of pitch. Amir's was due to his variation in death. Pitch didn't exactly help them. Same way Malinga's wickets. Real ball of the tournament was from Kuldeep.
