Ankit_sharma03
If gill doesnt play 1st test i doubt he ll get a debut in test this year as its just 2 test only so not a lot of changes wont happen and then next test wud be Aus series at end of year in which same team will be repeated. Im happy that gill played for A team rather national team coz he got to play games , had it been indian team high chance he wud have been on bench or benched after 2-3 games. In his age he shud play more then be on bench. But with him scoring such heavy runs other players shud be on edge now as any slip up can lead to his selection and them being dropped. As for gill he shud just continue piling runs as sooner or later his chance wud come and under kohli u better not mess it as he has low patience Cricspin 1 Link to comment

We missed that bus with Siraj in mid to late 2018. There is nothing like handing a Senior team cap to a player in great form. Mosher 1 Link to comment
express bowling
Gill in the Unofficial Test series in NZ ( away from home ) 83 off just 83 in tough batting conditions with his team in trouble. 204 not out off just 279 balls 136 off just 190 balls as an opener Very high average and very high strike rate combo. Just amazing. !! Mosher, themask and Cricwala 3 Link to comment

Can be an all format player. But Gill can be very good for tests and ODIs too. They are diffetent types of batsmen and would bring different strengths to the team. Mosher 1 Link to comment

Lone Wolf
Happy for Gill.. Don't go for drives early on. & Look to play horizontal bat strokes which he is good at. Pujara should open but won't happen. express bowling and Mosher 2 Link to comment

express bowling
Gill is 28 not out off 38 balls on test debut, end of day 1. The first 4 overs by the Aussie pacers were almost unplayable. There were a few plays and misses by Gill and a dropped catch too. But the young man maintained his composure. ... and batted really well after the 4th over, as he grew in confidence. There were some sublime shots played after that ... a pull, a cut, a flick and a few drives. To his credit, he put away all the loose balls. In the initial stage, he did poke at a couple of deliveries ... but played the ball under his eyes after that and left and defended well. Overall ... I liked his batted in these tough batting conditions. And we need someone who can counter-attack. nevada and Mosher 2 Link to comment

Tyron
Top notch. But be careful. Aussies will come hard tomorrow. Also Shaw is very gifted. Needs to come back in a couple of years. Still raw. Work on technique. Link to comment
express bowling
Great start to his test career by Gill Gave the impression that he belongs here ... the big stage. 45 off 65 balls with 8 fours 35 not out off 36 balls with 7 fours It was tough to bat in the first innings ... Gill had his stroke of luck ... but he was unfazed and showed great temperament. And in the 2nd innings, he was so commanding. Played at a near 100 SR without taking any risks. His stroke play is sublime ... has all the shots in the book ... and has a lot of time to play fast bowlers. Well done kid ! He needs to be given a long long run in test matches. One wonders why he was warming the benches for so long !!!! Edited December 29, 2020 by express bowling NameGoesHere, Sgattick10, tweaker and 4 others 2 5 Link to comment
express bowling
One area he needs to work on is ... making a more definitive front foot movement while playing off stump balls by quick bowlers. Link to comment
