Shubman Gill needs to be tried in test matches and ODIs

Recommended Posts

If gill doesnt play 1st test i doubt he ll get a debut in test this year as its just 2 test only so not a lot of changes wont happen and then next test wud be Aus series at end of year in which same team will be repeated.

Im happy that gill played for A team rather national team coz he got to play games , had it been indian team high chance he wud have been on bench or benched after 2-3 games. In his age he shud play more then be on bench.

But with him scoring such heavy runs other players shud be on edge now as any slip up can lead to his selection and them being dropped. As for gill he shud just continue piling runs as sooner or later his chance wud come and under kohli u better not mess it as he has low patience

he has crossed merchant in terms of FC average. next only to bradman. and yet does not get a spot in the Ind team. so, I am assuming that we have a top 6, all of whom are near-bradman.

Very happy to see Gill about to make his test debut tomorrow.

All the best !!

Wishing him a very long and very successful career !

I hope he gets a very long rope.  He should not be dropped after a couple of bad games, If that happens.

Stage is set for getting back Rohit for 3rd test match

Gill is 28 not out off 38 balls on test debut, end of day 1.

The first 4 overs by the Aussie pacers were almost unplayable. There were a few plays and misses by Gill and a dropped catch too.

But the young man maintained his composure. ... and batted really well after the 4th over, as he grew in confidence. There were some sublime shots played after that ... a pull, a cut, a flick and a few drives.

To his credit, he put away all the loose balls.

In the initial stage, he did poke at a couple of deliveries ... but played the ball under his eyes after that and left and defended well.

Overall ... I liked his batted in these tough batting conditions.  And we need someone who can counter-attack.

The Aussies will come hard at him in the morning. Hope he can weather the storm and go on to get a big score. He has looked great in his stay at the crease so far.

Great start to his test career by Gill

Gave the impression that he belongs here ... the big stage.

45 off 65 balls with 8 fours

35 not out off 36 balls with 7 fours

It was tough to bat in the first innings ... Gill had his stroke of luck ... but he was unfazed and showed great temperament.

And in the 2nd innings, he was so commanding. Played at a near 100 SR without taking any risks.

His stroke play is sublime ... has all the shots in the book ... and has a lot of time to play fast bowlers.

Well done kid !

He needs to be given a long long run in test matches.

One wonders why he was warming the benches for so long !!!!
