Will consider Rohit Sharma as Test opener: MSK Prasad

When prithvi is not available, no harm in going for rohit for few matches.
I didnt like priyank in the recent WI A tour, dont think he is test standard. Gaikwad is suited for LOI first. 
There was only 2 choices literally Easwaran and Rohit. No harm in going for Rohit, lets check him.

    But why not Mayank & Gill as openers? Also this experimentation would have been good from long term point of view .

    Rather than Rohit failing in 2 tests abroad and then you give chance to these youngsters directly in overseas conditions , why not introduce them in      a   home series and  help them settle .

Msk is a doofus with no real power. The axis of evil (Kohli/Shastri/Dhoni) along with their stooges (Rohit/Dhawan) are running the show.

Since Rohit is likely to fail in that unsuitable position...old prick sunny G will say how can you play a middle order batsman as an opener..and blame the selectors for not giving him another chance in middle order..shastri will ensure another run... by then all opening contenders like easwaran, panchal will become 28 and will be deemed too old...

The other side of sehwag temptation. When Ganguly wanted to make another sehwag n made yuvraj open in test cricket changing the settled pair of aakash chopra n sehwag which at that time made vice captain- dravid angry . The next test dravid became captain n immediately changed back to aakash chopra

Except in Australia, Sehwag himself found it difficult to score runs in SENA after 2003.. an extremely bad move considering how pitches are so much in favor of fast bowlers..

He did score on his 1st SA n ENG tour hundreds ....rest sena country tours came in his worst phases.

Yes he did..Sehwag is a Maverick..had a good defence and was always intimidating..

So they are going ahead with Rohit as a Test opener.  DIsaster written all over it. Rohit obviously will be desperate and agree to it. Could end up finishing his int'l career sooner.

his biggest quality was his mindset.....as clear as anything which is of steve smith as well. Ppl think anyone who plays aggresively = sehwag

but what made sehwag diff was his uncluttered mindset. He lived by the sword n died by the sword

By your criteria, there have been only two good openers ever - Gavaskar and Graeme Smith. Rest others have had major holes in 3-4 countries.

Rohit will never be Sehwag as he does not have the ability to score against even decent spinners in test cricket.Sehwag is/was the best player of spin in Indian cricket.

extremely well said.....these dumb asses have no senses what so ever ..... no wonder with these frauds at the helm  even more bizarre things like 'proclaiming Rayudu as the best no: 4 for the world cup, dropping Rayudu at the last moment etc etc ' can keep on  happening again and again.

When rahul was in form n got injured - dhawan scored runs against SL n shastri said in open dhawan is our no.1 choice opener....when acc to their karun nair dropping logic the player who owns the spot gets his spot back post injury but that wasnt the case. Guess how many games they stuck with dhwan after giving such statement- 1 game

 

They cant stick to any decison be it right or wrong which is why no.4 never got solved. The only position that are settled under them were settled during dhoni ......or settled by accident

Gill is not a regular opener. And prithvi will definitely come back later. Then again changing gill's batting order will clutter his mind.

  Is he not playing as Opener in all recent  IND A games  and making lots of runs ? 

  Even MSK is saying GIll will be considered for both opening & middle order ...
