Rahane's slip catching has gone to the dogs

Unpopular opinion but methinks he has surpassed Kohli as the worst slip catcher in the world of late. Has been a while, gone unnoticed cos we like to have fun at the expense of Super V. At least Kohli takes a few stunners. 5 consecutive drop catches this series with Ashwin as bowler, all of them came at comfortable height. What's wrong? Seems to be reacting late these days, eyesight problem can cause that. Hard hands, never good for slip catchers. How demotivating it must be for a bowler. Not 1, not 2 but 5 dollies in and out. 

 

Unacceptable for players like Rahane who don't have secondary skill set. He is already lucky for not losing his spot despite being so useless for the last 3 years. And his smiles after *ing up so consistently . Weakest link in this team.

The Mehidy Hasan drop a while back is the worst miss I have seen in a very long time, can't get simpler than that. How is this guy never questioned? The way the experts behave one would be fooled into believing Rahane is more valuable than Kohli and Bumrah combined.

Mehidy Hasan drop was bad. But i dont think he has dropped 5 'dollies' - he's had a poor series as slipper, but claiming all drops were dollies is bit over the top

If the ball comes at chest height he easily drops it. It probably is not just the form. May be the technique and lack of judgement.

Apart from his slip catching, I'm still not convinced about his form against stronger opponents. He is incredibly lucky to still hang on to that spot despite stiff competition and now has cemented it again.  Hope he does as well as VK or Che.

Can’t single out Rahane. Our slip catching sucks. Kohli is worse.

 

Rohit is alright. 
 

Our slip fielding has gone to the dogs over the last few years. Unbelievable the fielding coach has been getting a free ride for years now. Picked even over likes of Jonty Rhodes.

 

I was really impressed with Prithvi Shaw’s slip fielding in the u-19 Wc
