Punjab always go between Akali Dal (who work in conjunction with the BJP) and Congress, it is not a Congress loving state. You also have to realise that Punjab is only 59% Sikh. When Manmohan Singh was Prime Minister Punjab was being led by the Akali Dal and BJP. People in Punjab are fed up of the drug menace and voted for a change but no change will happen as members of the Akali Dal have relatives in the congress party. Secularism doesnt work when elements of one particular community are hell bent to disturb the social harmony of a secular and democratic country by wanting special privileges/ creating havoc purely because of their religion AND also surpressing the voice and rights of the majority by not respecting the existence/ beliefs/values of said majority community in the first place. If we indeed had a truly secular mindset by all communities in the country there wouldnt have been the need of 'Hindutva' in the first place. Also hows secularism working for you in Pakistan..? The problem is that muslims take advantage of secularism and liberalism. If the muslim population of India was 3% then no one would vote for the likes of Modi.
