Problem is the no at which he bats .. at no 6 or 7 u Don't need a batsman striking at 100.. instead we need a batsman with a stike rate of 120 above.... He is neither a suitable choice for no 4 where his strike rate of 100 will justify as iyer is looking solid at no 4..  he isn't doing justice to his place in the team..& his bowling isn't really doing any good for him to justify his place.

Even accomplished batsmen hit such balls straight to the fielder sometimes. I remember Kohli did that once against Nathan Lyon in a test match. Iyer did well to dispatch every one of those garbage balls for six.

So who is his replacment, Dubey is not that is for sure.Pandya bats no7 and his SR is 114 with 29 avg.

 

Jadhav  is 43 avg and 102 SR.

I like the fact that Iyer & Pant are easing into their roles at number 4 & 5. When Hardik comes back we'll be more or less settled middle order. #7 can be a new lower order hitter whom we can find soon.

How are u so sure dubey is not an option... he played one good innings in the t20i.. with hardik back in the team.. it will be the no 6 position of jhadhav up for grab.. dubey can hit big.. but yet has to prove his credentials in international cricket for him to provide a strong option.. he is definitely in reckoning not discarded completely..

Even SKY can be given a run at no 6 given his range of shots in limited over cricket.. but he doesn't bowl.. so don't know how team management will look into his case.

He is not a fit, athletic cricketer like a Robin Singh either. Bad hamstring, slow in the field. Maybe it's not fair to suddenly terminate his career but it is what it is. They can keep him in the squad as a safe backup option but not in the X1 for a while until newer talents are identified.

Who said Dubey is discarded, he was dropped for this match , it does not mean he is discarded.No 6 has to be batsmen who can bowl atleast few overs. They wanted Dubey to be replacement for Pandya but he is not be capable of bowling that many overs.

 

Why has Dubey played only 16 FC matches if he is that good batsman.

 

Jadhav was not given anything easy, he did his hard yards too.He was given debut very late in his career.Jadhav is legitmately good batsmen who can score 100 from no 6 spot in odis.That is so important for batting depth.Can he do it against all teams in all conditions, don't think so.

He is far better batsman than Robin Singh. Fans can expect players careers to be terminated in hope of getting new talent.TM cannot do it.They will pick and choose to give new talent some chances and it is upto new players to grab them.

 

Jadhav as you said is injury prone and that will open up chances for others.I don't think they are doing it wrong by playing Jadhav.

You might be right about Jadhav about being spent force.His SR was is not a problem for no6, he is just fine there.You don't have to hit ball a mile to score runs, he has his ways of scoring.There not many options there so he will be in contention till they find other options.

 

I don't think Dubey is no6, he is more of no7/8 than no6.
