Law of averages at least ?

England failed in 2017 after being the favourites but got it in 2019.

We've failed in 2016,17 and 19. There has got to be an end to this. :((

I think its captain who knws how to win tournament or not.

Ganguly won 1 in 13 with special knocks by kaif n yuvi ... Which is what i think will take us to win something special.

Even prior to 2019 i said we will just loose coz of kohli. His body lang is worse in such situation which affects whole team. Make rohit captain tomm ill give us 60%....under kohli just 5%.

He clearly is doing something wrong with his teams be it india or even rcb. I think the downfall again wud be captaincy. Every team has strength n weakness its how u manage resources.

Because a trickle can become a flood - Indian TV audience is the resource that's driving Indian cricket.  CPL, BPL, BBL, etc should not be allowed to mine this resource by hiring a couple of mercenaries.

I understand that concern but im not talking about letting the superstars like kohli, dhoni, rohit go...these ppl attract crowds.

I dont think guys like uthappa, samson, kishen will take crowd away much. Guys like yuvi, sehwag are playing t10 and they were superstars yet didnt affect ipl brand.

Neways i think 1st most shud try for county the ones that are left from county, A teams, national teams shud be allowed to go....now how much of talent wud be left in that case u can imagine.

BBL n BPL m not even saying yes to coz that clashes with our domestic.

Also i think boards also take a cut from players when they play in leagues m not sure but i think that happens.

Playing 1 2 leagues will helps guys like krunal, axar or a few who are loi players but but only if they arent playing anything.

Do we have any overseas test series next year apart from NZ?

Oh my bad, I thought the thread was about expectations in the next decade, not just next year

People also said the same when Sachin retired, Kolkata gets full crowds after Dada retirement, Dhoni hardly plays but we still get full crowds, old stars fade out new stars will rise, circle of life.

Off-field I don't even care now, no expectation.

On-field:

win in NZ

draw in Aus

win in Asia Cup

no heartbreak in T20 WC, either go all the way or bow out in group stage...sick of KO exits

How do you decide which fringe player to allow and which ones not to.  Yuvi/Sehwag were clearly past their prime, and not good enough to play in IPL - ok to allow such folks to go - and that too only for 'exhibition' tournaments - T10, or Canada etc. Not the other competitor T20 leagues or the ECB 'Hundred'.

Once you allow one or 5 players, legally, you cannot stop other active players either.  From an enforcement and policy making perspective, this is not so simple.  Even if you implement a case-by-case white-list procedure, it can be proven illegal in a court of law.

You are missing an obvious but big point - right now, IPL is the only T20 league that attracts the best players.  Most good players are only going to be able to play ONE T20 league outside their 'home' nation.  Currently IPL is the unanimous choice for all players for this.  I'm not talking about freelancers who play everywhere because they have either shitty or no home leagues - Windies or Afg etc.  I'm talking about top talent from Aus, SA, Eng, NZ and everywhere.  Becasuse of this, India's top 100 prospects get the opportunity to play at the highest level against the best talent in the world.

If we allow 'some' Indian players to play in BBL or 'Hundred', that risks allowing those leagues to grow in stature sufficiently enough so that tomorrow, the next Kagiso Rabada may decide that instead of playing IPL in addition to the SA league, he's going to pick one of those.

Just to chase the unproven benefit of a handful of fringe players playing elswhere, why should BCCI risk the benefit that all its prospects are getting, due to the IPL being the top league?

Its one thing to make 'smart' suggestions, but you have to think through the ramifications and ripple effects.

Please Dont mention Removal of Kohli or Shastri coz that aint happening until Next WC debacle .

With Finally BCCI in place i hope some positive things happen in Indian cricket this year

Ok Ill start with mine

  1. Appointment for Director of Cricket : SA has it, ENG has it now even RCB has it and look how well they did at auction unlike many previous years. Someone needs to be on head of Kohli n shastri who have no accountability and shown lack of vision. Ganguly wud be busy cleaning COA mess and other stuff, Selectors are dhakkan, Coach is a yes man so all comes down to virat and so much on one man plate is not right. Someone needs to be on their head to question SA n ENG test series problems and WC poor planning. Need a strong character like kumble but i dont think that will work out. We shud be open to appointment of a foreign director as well like RCB has done with hesson. This for me is a must....
  2. Pushing more players to go to county- Now that so many players have played for India they shud be eligible to play for counties. Ishant career came on trak post county season, ashwin, rahane, pujara is going regularly now. I want to see youngsters like mayank, shaw, rahul, vihari, nair , nadeem, kuldeep, siraj, saini all going and playing county in next 2-3 years atleast a season of it. With international calendar also some will definitely find time coz now we have diff format players. Its High time that umesh yadav also goes to play county cricket. Even if someone out of favour like uthappa, yusuf goes n plays he ll come back with some knowledge that he can share with our domestic cricketers
  3. Indian players playing in other t20 leagues : i understand BCCI concern of market value n neglecting domestic competitions but their can be a solution to everything. Players who are not playing for India n India-A during off season shud be allowed. Leagues like BBL or MSL which clash against our domestic can be avoided but leagues like CPL or natwest blast can be considered. We keep talking about pooran but pooran improved massively by playing leagues around the world. Things can be worked out by having some plan
  4. Revamp of NCA- Even though dravid is at it but the sooner it happens the better it is. If IPL franchises are doing better work then get those people to work in some capacity
  5. Appointment of better selectors specially one fast bowler in selection panel : Ganguly said few days back that there might be only 2 new selectors coming i hope we get some strong who has an eye for talent and one selector has to be someone like agarkar who understand fast bowling not like madan lal n all . We need selectors who understand modern cricket
  6. Captain, Coach , Selectors able to distinguish between format n conditions - The current group of TM cant distinguish between these till now and if they dont anytime sooner this will cost us games.
  7. Dhoni Retiring - Kar do bhai usse Retire ab bahut ho gaya.
  8. BCCI taking help of IPL franchises- BCCI can learn a lot from IPL Franchises like talent scouting, a players injury management, Off season Prep which sides like KKR n MI are doing better then NCA even foreign players come in off season n injury to take help from MI. IPL Franchises have tons of money and they hire best of the best from world so get those ppl in
  9. Play more multi nation tournament : Thank god ganguly is initiating it and its very important for cricket to have competing teams. All nonsense of test cricket dying went for toss when ashes happened as two sides fought very hard. This will also help us mentally in KO situations.
  10. Finding time for Zimb type series - I dont knw whats zimb current status but that was one series that excited me as it had so many youngsters and seniors resting or else here our main players dont even take rest against SL. We need to get such series atleast once a year like how it use to be. ay be a series with Afghanistan or Ireland...it ll help those teams as well.
  11. Somehow get a solution of this conflict of interest crap - We cant have better selectors or coaches or these great ex-players in some capacity till this nonsense ends
  12. To see a new brand of exciting n fearless cricket by youngsters this IPL - i was so happy to see devdutt, abhishek , shaw batting this SMA...i expect something like that in IPL. Indian cricket needs it badly...thats what LOI are for to blood some exciting talent .

What would be your expectations ?

OP you intentions are good and your heart is in the right place but based on my limited experience in management when you have too many goals you achieve nothing.

There should be one and only one goal which @Norman has stated. If you don't win that rest is all BS.

Pretty much Allow everyone but obviously guys like Rohit,Kohli,Dhoni,Bumrah won’t go for the money because it is chump change for them.

Guys like Pandya bros or Jadeja might benefit but their franchises won’t let them due to whole Protecting the brand value gimmick.

Now that leaves us with the other franchises Not named CSk or Mi which are a lot more lenient, so these players are free to go.

Playing a franchise league is not compulsory. Some Aussie and English players have skipped IPL in the past on their own.

However if BCCI allows and there is free will, I don’t see any harm for younger players going to BBl. infact they will only benefit more.

Obviously provided BBl’s interest in these players. Someone like Pant is already popular in Aus and he doesn’t play the big 2 franchises.

Simple if a player is selected for India, India-A he neways cant go....n if he decides to do that he ll shoot himself in the foot

The likes of kohli, rohit nyways wont go coz the money wont be enough for them. BCCI is nyways very clear that no can go in domestic season

Its only the ones that wud be left with no games in off season

The money in other leagues wont be enough for them to choose leagues like these of national or A games

n in off season we have tons of those

That is where im saying their shud be some rules

  • BBL, BPL, MSL all clash with our domestic
  • Player who are not playing for India or India -A in domestic can only go and even county perfomances wud be given pref.
  • BCCI just have to lay out these rules , u hve to understand these leagues dont pay enough that any player will go against BCCI . But we have such immense pool of talent that if those left ones go it wont matter to anyone . For eg if someone like a gopal isnt selected in National,A-Squad, County....why shudnt he go ??? How can someone like gopal take the IPL audience there

actually all can be taken care

half are administrative issue for which BCCI is there

Half are cricket related for which its high time we have a director of cricket

If not all if half problems are soughted its a good start. BCCI has enough money n resources to take care of all with time obviously

Some High quality minnow bashing and getting better & better in bilaterals. Few king kohli chases & rohit's double ton would be great to watch. Don't care about t20 worldcup as ICC Events should always be secondary thing for us. BCCI should already arrange couple of series with WI & Ban at home after t20 worldcup for recovery of fans.

Very difficult to do too many things. Simplify. Assign one task and that is to win T20. Others are all important points you made but these can be addressed in background. Most important thing is to win WC.

Before that someone needs to beat the crap out of Kohli(not literally) that he has to deliver and quit making stupid statements that public is obsessed with internation events or some nonsense.

This time they will bring SL for recovery to make sure that Rohit hit another double century fans will not talk about T20 wc till next ICC event.
