Shaw has so many technical deficiencies in his batting. He will struggle to avg even 20 in nz, England and africa.

A young modern day batsman like Shaw being suspect to short pitch bowling is unpardonable.

He was noticeably down on pace too - and that's not something he does by choice.  He doesn't look right.

The quality of Test cricket today is no where near what it was like in the 2000s. The series win in Australia was soft as butter.

I think Shaw is hyped up. He is not going to make it overseas. We need to promote batsman without glaring technical deficiencies. Bring Rahul in next test.

I am just putting the win in perspective. Some posters have suggested that because we beat Australia last time we can do it again, I cannot see it happening with this current team and with Australia's current team. We did catch Australia and the most perfect time to beat them.

 

Players out of form is irrelevant to the discussion, what is being discussed is the players available and the issues that a team is or are facing.

 

Australia was mentally broken from the scandal in SA, had lost two of their key batsmen as a result and had a temporary captain at the time at the helm.

 

Let me ask you this, do you think India will win the next series v Australia? I was confident last time we would actually win, this time, I think Australia will win at least 2-0 or 3-0.

 

India will not win the Test championship at Lords. (should they make it).

I am really disappointed that Shaw is gone. He wasn't in control anyway.. that was an awkward short for a decent  ball.. Could see that being played so many other ways for not getting out. Probably needs to think on his game a bit. He got the shots, need to work hard a lot  and  tighten  up if he wants to play as an opener for a long time.

 

Really want him to succeed long term as hes an exciting player to watch.

He looked like getting out in variety of ways which is not really good. Shot selection is very poor. That was a dreadful shot. Having played cricket at all levels he didn't realize there is a fielder?

LOok how much swing they extract with new ball. Our bowlers hardly swung the ball away. INdia has to find outswing bowlers without them India cannot succeed in English and NZ conditions.

Seriously. Sachin had like 6 slips while India was saving the test. He scored 117 to save the test. He faced Richard Hadlee to make 88 runs almost became the youngest centurion.  Shaw is way too loose. No real game plan as well like seeing off first 10 overs

gill is another guy who pushes at the ball..so not ideal in these conditions. need to see how quickly he can adapt.
