---- Forced to play Bumrah as no other pacer in the squad. He should have been rested. 

---- Hardik should bat at 6.

---- Kohli should be rested and Gill should play. Won't happen but Kohli needs rest.

I would have selected Prasidh in place of Bumrah in the squad.

 

Would have selected a 4th quick in place of Kohli.

 

Both need rest.

Don't be so sure. Everyone was saying Kiwis will lose test series and we all know what happened.

 

Having said that, Kohli may have opted for rest had Sharma been available. Without Sharma and Kohli the ODI series loses star value and also affects Team India's batting lineup with those two big guns missing.

Preparation for test series in NZ is always different. T20s, ODIs are played on flat patta wickets with small boundaries. Test cricket in NZ, SA, Aus, Eng will always be a different ball game and always be difficult for Indian touring sides.

Dhawan will be 36/37 in 2023 and I'm sure he will use this odi/IPL and play slow innings to solidify his place for t20s. If it's a lollipop to keep him out of t20i then it's fine.

I don’t think he was ever in contention for ODI. They might have played him in NZ to get acclimatized to NZ conditions for Tests.

that is why all these exercises are plain name sakes.....  playing in ODIs  to get practice in tests....  dropping after playing just 3 ODIs despite having such a great LIST A record..... just plain senseless ness ... that is this TM  is all about.

If they are asked as to why they sustained Shaw & dropped Agarwal , they   do not have any  sensible answer what so ever...

This can happen if Pant is dropped and Pandya plays at 6. 

If Pant is in, there is no place for 6 bowlers. Top 5 is locked with Dhawan and Shaw opening.
