The religious places have been causing problems everywhere...Pakistan, US, Italy, Spain, UK, South Korea, India....

Religious congregation are as dangerous as any other congregations. No less no more. Tablighi had out of country attendees (many of them suspectly +ves) which was the cause for spread. India had some other such incidents in temples and mosques too but no major harm done.

How are you doing on admissions, since that seems to be telling of what's to come

Admission in NYC are coming down, but not here in NJ. But hospitals are better prepared now, no shortage of ventilators , PPE and drugs. More test are done. So hope we will see the drops in admissions in 1-2 weeks .

Yes Remdesivir has had a good `anecdotal evidence' week. It's a hard drug to copy, apparently. A Chinese firm was able to copy it. Hoping Cipla is too, if Remdesivir is indeed an potential treatment.

IMO, All the studies are flawed and if I can see it, most doctors can see it either. Only way , effectivenes of drug can be concluded, once we have made the test kits available which will catch COVID at very early stage ie, once patient starts coughing severely he has tested himself and he starts taking medicine. As mentioned, most docs still do not know, what path Virus is taking hence sudden situation deterioration and multiorgan failure.

Till then, we have to rely on doctors words, if patient really lasted longer then he would when medicine is administered. And hence, HCL is best option so far.

One of the defining images of covid 19 in the United States, medical experts on one side vs free-marketers/libertarians on another

They are idiots but they are being endorsed by another idiot whom most of these idiots idolize.

Trump may say a few things that may resonate with people who lean to the right but he is incompetent and has totally fumbled this whole thing.

So why NY and NJ are effed. Who is really incharge. Democrats or Republicans? Or is it like our Delhi Mumbai West Bengal where local admin is against centre?

NYC-NJ area is more densely populated than rest of country. More reliance on public transport, etc. And the area is a major international travel hub.

Well, India is saying there are two strains. L type and S type. L type is relatively more deadly. However, IMO, more likely then not, deaths are directly associated with local admin. For example BJP Gujrat vs BJP UP.

So, USA has crossed 1 million positives yesterday on 27th April, 2020 well within end of April.

So, the ICFers who optimistically voted for < 1 million infections are all proven wrong by the latest stat.
Now, I see 14 votes for 1-5 million infections. Let us see if that will hold good. I have a hunch that the pessimistic 5 million is not impossible now may be by the fall or end of the year or so.

Comparison of response to COVID-19 by Trump vs the response to H1N1 (Swine Flu) by Obama:

Trump:
> January 19 (day 1), 2020, first coronavirus case in the US.
> January 24 (day 5) Trump posts his first tweet about the coronavirus. He praises the Chinese government for its “transparency” handling the outbreak and says, “it will all work out well.”
> January 30  (day 10) WHO declares corona virus a public health emergency of international concern.

> January  30 (day 10) Trump says - "We think we have it pretty much under control".

> January 31 (day 11) Trump introduces some travel restrictions from China. Note: He NEVER imposes a ban as he has been saying for weeks now. In fact over 40,000 folks were able to travel to USA from China after the restrictions were introduced.
> Feb 6 (day 18) Trump rejects WHO test kits.
> Feb 7 (day 19) Trump says he talked to president Xi and said about China "they're working really hard and doing a very  professional job"
. Unfortunately Trump and his administration were neither "working really hard" nor "doing a very professional job" handling the crisis.
> Feb 28  (day 40) Trump calls corona virus "new Democrat hoax."
> March 7  (day 48) Trump says, "I like the numbers being where they are."
> March 13 (day 54) Trump declares national emergency.
Trump declared a national emergency 44 days after WHO declared Corona virus an emergency and after 48 people had died in the USA.

Now take a look at how a similar crisis was handled by Obama:

April 15 (day 1), 2009, first swine flu (H1N1) case in the US.
April 25, (day 10) WHO declared H1N1 constitutes a public health emergency of international concern
April 26 (day 11) President Obama declares a national public health emergency
April 28 (day 13), test for virus approved.
May 1 (day 16), tests ship.
> Obama declared an emergency before there was even one death in America, renewed the public health declaration two more times and then declared a national emergency in October to make even more money and assistance available.

And keep in mind that the medical professionals are saying if New York had taken action in New York even 10 - 14 days earlier than they did deaths would have been cut by 80% - 90%. - - - imagine how many fewer deaths there would be in the USA if the Trump administration had acted 44 days earlier!

Thanks to Trump and his incompetent administration we get to witness and experience the exponential growth of coronavirus in the USA.

If you believe what Trump is saying you are living in an "Alternate Universe" created and promulgated by Trump, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others.
