Jadeja sold him down the river, but doubt he would have got us any closer, we lost by 180 runs or so. He played T20 like innings 45 ball 75, out of 150 odd from India

If there was a partnership we wud have specially around 4 overs of spinner left which hardik made a mockery that day of . His run out was untimely considering those few spinners over left and they wud have gone for runs, pressure wud have come on pakistan as well which is when they also crumble .

In that form 4 overs of those spinner cuid have meant around 60 runs for hardik easily

“If he bowls” he will be my 4th/5th name  name in the team in LOI’s after Rohit,Kohli,Bumrah,Dhawan but I think the question is if he can play as a

pure batsman.

I think he can in T20 but a big no in the other 2 formats.

Hardik is like Sheer talent...some one like Sachin and Bumrah ...excessive talent gifted from God. i have seen him playing shots of balls which others would defend.

yes he deserves to be in t20 and odi as a batsman alone but i want him to get his bowling back else he will always be under pressure to score big time as a batsman alone.

but i think as a pace bowler also he has sheer talent.

Shardul is picked in ODI most probably only because Hardik is not playing. Its hard to believe shardul playing in the 11 ahead of SAINI or even Umesh just as a fast bowler. Probably because Shardul has improved his batting Skills and hardik is unfit as a bowler , we may see shardul playing more so as an all rounder.

All this praises for Pandya seems like he is the next incarnate of Kapil Dev. Not convinced of his supremacy as described here. We hype too many here in ICF. Moments of glory is not proven talent. Even Dinesh Mongra has a mammoth ODI 100

I agree with the above statement .... In terms of pure talent and potential, he is right up there with Sachin & Bumrah .... Many of Ind's top batsmen have overcome their limitation and adhered to their strength to become successful. While Hardik is a natural. Because of his natural abilities as a sportsman, he is able to bat like a champion, field specularly and bowl 140+ too. A once in a generation cricketer esp. as a package

SDP is in a league of his own

Many batsmen need 30+ balls to come close to his initial SR .... Perceived big hitters like Rohit Sharma are not able to match his SR even after playing 30+ balls

Rohit Sharma hit 264 in a odi once and has one of the most impressive 6’s per game ratio and has hit over 10 6’s in a game multiple times including record for the most 6’s in a game. “Perceived” talents can be greater  than anyone hypothetically. Come back and taunt us when Pandya has done anything tangible at the international level.

Utility value. Let’s drive a criteria for a utility value. At this point, I don’t see a supreme utility value of Pandya over Rohit.? He is expected to be a #6 with a all-rounder abilities. He can’t come in as a batsman in ODI or Tests. please don’t bring useless IPL performance in this discussion. Yes, agree he can come as a batsman only in T20is, but not for crucial ODIs . Yes he can hit 6s, but can he hit when we need it the most proves a utility value.

Pandya fans are very gifted idiots. First I was told he is an allrounder and when I pointed out he cant bowl now I am being reminded that he can hit sixes. I dont know when this insanity will end but I don't see that happening soon.

If all else fail we should have at number 6 a player with mail order east european bride. Now not many can claim that,.

Rohit is a known failure in the lower middle order, whereas Pandya is creating his niche there. So he is already ahead of Rohit in that field. If he bats in the top order, he can improve his average too .... Let's not forget that Rohit was not even picked for 2011 WC, 3-4 years after making his debut

What do you want to say? If he has done well with the bat he should not be considered in our setup(loi) as he is not bowling now

Same question to you?

Don't understand why do you hate him?he hasn't bowled as he is coming back from injury they don't want to risk him,it isn't like he will not (bowl) in future

Yes, he can bat at 5 in ODIS...but with KLR in there, he should be at 6 where is he much more suited than Manish. (Manish almost can only play at 4)... Rohit, Shikar, Virat, Iyer, KL, Panyda is a good batting line up.

Problem is our squad has no 6th bowler, and maybe Jadeja one of 5 bowlers which would be disastrous.

Those who are doubting he cant bowl after injury, here he bowled in DY patil at full steam. Only reason wud be that they dont wanna risk as of now n going on a proper road map which is good coz we have seen with someone like bhuvi how his injuries have constantly relapsed. .

Once They feel sure he can bowl he will, good team understands his value and not forcing him to ....as of now i can say that about MI lets see how its taken forward by indian team)

SDP should only bowl if he feels comfortable and is fully recovered ....  His lower middle order batting is too valuable for the team .... Guys like Pandya (who bowls too), Samson (who keeps too), etc., are good enough to be in a side for their batting alone

That’s a little below the belt. Feel a little bad for chuckling at that.

Since Rohit switched to opening since 2013 CT , he is indispensable in the ODI and has surpassed Kohli in ODI utility value. You can’t simply compare to Pandya, it is laughable. Pandya in ODIs is useful only as an all-rounder and only as a six-hitting batsman. 40 balls 70s are useful in setting up scores. We need a sedate 100a from a player coming in only as a batsman

Yes in T20Is only where one 20+ runs over will turn the tide. Not in ODIs

In his short career, Pandya has become indispensable as a lower middle order batsman, while we have good top order players in abundance

If a guy bats in lower middle order, he is expected to score at a high SR, where players such as Rohit have failed. And as mentioned, if Pandya gets to play in top order, he can hit 100s too (it won’t be sedate though as his attitude is like Viv Richards and ABDV)

The idea that a 100 can has to be hit in sedate manner is laughable and it probably stems from a legacy of following too much Ind cricket, which is hardly an innovation leader and filled with batsmen with an inability to bat like Richards and ABDV (benchmarks for impact LOI batting)
