Trichromatic Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 He has played 42 matches, and has nothing so far. Mostly below average performance. Doing great in IPL, so will be picked for next 2 years it seems. Question is will he go Dhoni route, doing great in IPL, nothing in T20I and keep on playing for decade? Or, will he actually perform at some point, considering his great talent which he has shown in IPL and ODIs?
chewy Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Needs to bat at No.4 Anyways what have any curent Indian batsmen barring Rahul done in T20Is? All have pathetic strike rates and want to be "Anchor". In general Indian T20 batsmen are mediocre compared to WI, Eng, Aus, NZ counterparts in T20Is.
Forever Indian Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Pandya has improved massively with bat, so can't judge much based on past performance. Also we don't have any alternative big hitters down the order. express bowling and Mosher 2

He has capability and he has shown that in IPL and ODIs, but that's the question of the thread - how long will he play international T20 based on just those capabilities and without performances.

Probably till upcoming T20 WC, till then keep looking for alternatives as well.
Stan AF Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 He is not going anywhere. He is a permanent fixture in the indian team for the next 2 t20 wcs and the next odi wc.

Shown it today itself that he is not going anywhere Think having him concentrate on just batting is helping him recently. express bowling 1

chewy Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 These days every critical Hardik thread seems to fall flat, even whilst Hardik playing handicapped - not bowling sandeep and express bowling 2

Number Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 For T20Is, selections will always be based on IPL and no Indian player has ability to be as destructive as Pandya. Unless there is someone who overshadows him in the IPL he is not going anywhere.

Stan AF Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Kohli: Yeah meant a great deal. We've played as a team in T20 cricket. The fact that we don't have Rohit and Bumrah, our established white ball players, in and still doing well makes me happy. Everyone has played 14 games at least, recently - so they know what their plans are. We just kept them down to a total which we thought was quite chaseable with the short boundary. It's contributions from the whole team that make you feel better because young players are taking their opportunities. The reason was Hardik coming into the team in 2016 was pure ability. He has raw talent. And now he realises that this is his time, the next 4-5 years, to be that bankable player that can win you games from anywhere. His plans are right and I'm glad to see that. We had a word before the game to ride the atmosphere, and the energy from the fans. [The scoop] there was indeed an AB shot! I told Hardik Tye wasn'texpecting it and he said he didn't either. I'll text AB tonight, see what he thinks of it. Told you guys so. He's a permanent fixture. 2 hours ago, Stan AF said: He is not going anywhere. Austin 3:!6 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Pandya is still not fully fit as he is holding his back everytime. It is also impacting his off side game which puts a lot of strain on the back. Hope after this series, he takes time off and repair his body and come fully fit in summer. No need to play home series with Eng or the IPL.Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
