Australia A vs India ¦ 2nd practice match! December 11! SYDNEY

Recommended Posts

Its important to humiliate A teams in practice games.. Very strong teams do this. Aus SA many instances.. May be WI did that too.. It sends a message. Aus are happy for two reasons No hardik not kohli after first test. Amd they got back smith and warner and expect to be all over India they need a wakeup call to make the series lit. This is good.

Pant should be part of our T20 squad also. He should open instead of Dhawan.

What he needs is getting into his groove with confidence . That requires him to do well in Test in Aus . In any case now we have 8 tests before any short format matches . Enough time to get back performing. Concern is will he be again dropped in India  for ENG series favouring Saha ? .

Did you forget Karun Nair who was benched after a 300 in a test match against a strong side like England !

The series against England was followed by the home series against Australia where Nair registered scores of 26, 0, 23 & 5 in the four innings played over three Test matches.

I know he should have absolutely got more chances but NO HE WAS NOT BENCHED just after 300 .

Also he lost it afterwards and didn't put up enough to get back to the team.

we shouldn't take A game performances so seriously. Last year Pakistan dominated Aus A team(which was stronger than this A team) including a fifer by some bowler. Yet they got spanked to all corners in the test series

What we saw today was that he cam dominate spinners, which vsry few batsmen in our LOI team can. We struggled against spinners in all LOI games this series

Absolutely. We will still get hammered in the Test series. The bowling attack itself will be twice more potent and intensity level a few notches above these A games.

But today's batting show by youngsters does help bust the regular Kohli PR campaign of our youngsters not being talented enough or not being interested in Tests after IPL success.

Kohli's departure after the 1st test could bactually e a blessing for these youngsters. Expecting Rahane as a captain to be a much better decision maker and give the right space to rookies. He also will not have to live upto a fake PR fronted image and will be a more natural leader and man manager.

In fact Karun Nair was benched just after that 300.

Below is Nair's international career -  you will see that the 303* came on the 16 Dec Test against England

India's next Test match was on 9 Feb 2017 versus BD.  He doesn't feature in that game, apparently making way for a returning Rahane:

The game after that was on 23 Feb, the opener against Australia.  No Nair.

It was then that he was bought back in and given 3 Tests against Australia, starting March 2

And then he was done, by the end of the same month!

Edit:  I also believe he was unfairly dealt with.

Great innings Pant. Should clearly be starting as the first choice keeper..

Gill and Vihari should play ahead of Shaw and Rahul

Starting XI should be:

Gill

Mayank

Pujara

Virat

Rahane

Vihari

Pant

Ashwin

Siraj/Saini

Shami

Bumrah

Umesh will get a look in as per news floating around

Agree practice games don’t mean series win for sure it depends on what they do in the test series. But it sets a tone.

He also showed the trundlers their place. Whacked them all over the place. To hell with the cautious batting that our superstars have been showing in the recent years. Nice refreshing change and Aus A looked scared..lol
