Gavaskar too left on his own after 1985 world series triumph I think.. Dravid not only left captaincy but also persuaded the seniors to skip T20 world cup giving a chance to Juniors.

He too quit on his own and retired from the game altogether.

Sachin/Dravid/Kumble are of different standard and have high dignity. Cant compare them with MSD/Kohli as personalities.

He was about to retire at the end of Border-Gavaskar series at Nagpur in 2008 but he injured his finger in 3rd test at Delhi. Unable to play 4th test he decided to retire after Delhi test.
