SK_IH Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Excerpts : "On December 14, Edtech startup Classplus announced Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly as brand ambassador. Classplus are the direct competitors of Team India’s shirt sponsors Byju’s. This is president Ganguly’s second association with a company whose rivals are BCCI sponsors: he endorses fantasy gamers My11Circle, whose rival Dream11 paid Rs 222 crore to be the 2020 IPL title sponsor." "The position of BCCI president has been held by politicians, businessmen, lawyers, operators, hucksters. Never an India captain loved by millions. It is the new BCCI constitution that sent Ganguly to the top of Indian cricket, where his image and deeds could carry real influence. But his actions indicate that he’s chosen to cling on to power and build his own brand. That’s called playing down the wrong line." SK_IH Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 I hope Srinivasan is back at the helm & some one like Dravid takes over cricketing side of things. Indian cricket needs cultural change & dynamic mindset. Ganguly should make teams for My11circle & criticize performances sitting in studio. He should take his great friend Ravi Shastri with him. Solution is power shouldn't be concentrated to one/two individuals Eng,Aus,NZ never had the culture of hero worship like ours as a result they have always been front-runners in innovating the game We always oppose someone who has the vision and will to make reforms Greg Chappell was opposed by Ganguly even Indian public was hell bent on getting him resigned Kumble was not a yes man hence Kohli got him out and Shastri in ,the world knows what's Shastri's primary job and still will be Indias longest running main coach, travesty We have actually spoiled our youth,it will take something to make a culture change Kohli-Shastri era will be remembered as the darkest era in Indian cricket,i consider it darker than the era ( match fixing fiasco) back in 2000 Straight Drive 1

Too much of hero worship, indeed. Some hard and long training sessions and the coach becomes bad, not suited to our super star players. These cricketers then with help of someone leak to media that this coach isn't suitable to work with I dian cricketers as he doesn't understand culture and sporting sessions the way these cricketers want to do as per their liking. I know of one coach. I won't name him, but he was very strict with two cricketers. They were sleeping in morning. When the coach sent his assistant to their room to ask them to come to nets, the booze bottles and cigarette packets were lying besides them. That is how strict coaches are, they don't care of how big the players are. Suhaan 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 What is this crap called conflict of interest? BCCI President is a honorary post, Ganguly does not get paid a penny (unlike the CoA jokers, each of whom pocked a few crores for destroying our cricket). He's a right to earn clean money and is free to chose brands he wants to endorse. Will a lawyer, businessman or a politician be asked to stop practising his profession if he becomes BCCI president? It's like student going to school deciding how the teacher should teach and if he does not likes the teaching method and homework then he asks principal to change the teacher. Sadly some of decisions by BCCI were based on students complain about teachers (read coach). This is nothing but pampering. There is so much money in Indian cricket now, that it's a big business. These guys are good at managing the business, by that I mean that they are very good to ensure that their brand does not takes a hit. That's it. The other aspects and abilities of handling a cricketing team will be missing. Suddenly they realized they need to develop youngsters for future. Whom are the fooling. When the presentation and expectations between management and coaches take place, they usually share how they manage to develop talents. It's a key aspect. Even the board has this vision when selecting coaches. Why did they forget that for last few years and realized only after 36 innings. They are managing it again. Suhaan 1

Soorma_Bhopali Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 BCCI PResident is an honorary position stripped of most of the powers in current set up . There is not much a BCCI president can do other than ensure organizing tournaments on -time . We actually need a Head of Cricket / Director of cricket with teeth to hold coach, captain and support staff accountable who in turn will report to CEO along with RTI to ensure that board is accountable to the fans. BCCI being accountable to the fans will only be a dream. A fan is only there to pay the cricketers money from your pocket by means of revenue generated from ticket sales, merchandise sales, watch in front of TV or mobile to boost TRP so they can get more broadcast revenue. That's what a fan is useful for them, not for BCCI being accountable to the fans. Soorma_Bhopali 1
