How does Sri Lanka bat so well in South Africa?

de Silva and Chandimal are coasting along at 4 RPO they won the previous series here 2-0 (with an albeit magical single-handed performance). But how do they seem to do so well in South Africa when we always end up folding under 200

Might as well be the case of bowling attack that the opposition has which makes the Saffers to play them on belters

Not saying we had threatening attack innthe past but Zaheer,Sreesanth have given them scars

Stroke makers..  Perera a left hander aggressive stroke maker.  Chandimal as well.  Captain a solid opener.  Their batting unit is actually decent.  Good backfoot game.  Plenty of guys who can play cut hook & pull.  Left right combos.  I still can't forget how these guys made us toil in India & drew two games.

Got very lucky esp in Eden, hardly 2.5 days of action (rain), another 15 overs and we would have stomped them. Delhi of course that famous smog/mask episode hahahaha.

Yeah try did take a big 1st inns in Eden..  Then almost lost the game in 2nd inns..  In Delhi there was a great resistance offered.  Only Team to somehow escape with izzat outta India in Tests.  Sides get blown away. 

SL test side is better than likes of Pakistan,  SA atm.

No guts no glory. They’re not afraid to play their shots and it is not at all reckless. Some amazing shots through the day. I’ve not seen a single bad ball go unpunished when I watched. We don’t have Chandimal, Perera, Dhananjaya type stroke makers in Indian team. Beautiful to watch.

SL test side is better than likes of Pakistan,  SA atm. 

SL may be mediocre overall but clucth, honestly speaking they are probably the best 4th innings batting team, their batsmen don't get fazed on day 5.

RSA is SL's bunny in all formats, just check the records/stats, I think SL even leads the ODI H2H despite RSA being 2nd best (or best?) ODI side (statistically) since readmission. SL was their final frontier in tests, and needed luck to do that.

On this same Centurion we made Ngidi look like second coming of Marshall.  Stroke making makes all the difference.  No doubt SL batsmen have the strokes to Counter SA bowling unit.  Hopefully Gill becomes a permanent feature in our team by the time we tour Saffers next year.  Easy Series win for the taking.

Oh man stop overrating a run of the mill side. They lost hopelessly against Pakistan, drew the series at home against NZ.

It is a side you should crush from the start by putting them under immense pressure but if you give them some life they are fiesty enough to sieze the chances. I like De Silva, he is very talented but seems to be very inconsistent.

When did they lose to Pakistan in Test cricket?  They beat them in UAE 2-0 last I recall.  After that they lost 1-0 to India away. 

No body is overrating them but we have to appreciate a small cricketing nation punching above his ability.  Kudos to SLC that they brought a guy like Mickey at the helm..

Last year in Pakistan. They have been highly mediocre since 2015.
