Yup we are not respecting him at all. He achieved more than John Wright and Kirsten. Best Indian coach of all time.

Actually not much difference on our take on things ( toss,Pants keeping, tension) and the Team managements ...like nervousness when Pant bats. Best was Ashwin said when Pant bats it’s difficult to fathom who is more scared .. the opposition or us lol..

Look at his strategies. He asked ashwin to bowl early at MCG and asked team to bowl legside to smith and labu. These are the key things.

Ravi Shastri is coming out looking good if not great in any conversations. Te only difference between 2019 world cup and Gabba test is all the new comers had succeded and in world cup guy like Rahul flopped.

I  blame that on loss of Kohli the batsman.Coaching and selection was not an issue there also. They had injuries there also.

The videos changed few of my perceptions
1) Used to hate Sridhar a lot for the dropped catches. Listening to him/reading his interview sheds light into his effort, him acknowledging players prioritizing the core skill over fielding, etc. Would probably still curse Sridhar for the next dropped catch, but not with the same old vengeance
2) Ravi Shastri doesn't get as much credit as he deserves and is always seen as a yes man. Gets trolled lot in social media. But he has good cricketing acumen and player management skills. One of the best coaches India has had alongside Wright & Kirsten.
3) Never rated Shardul Thakur and saw him as a second grade trundler among our fast bowling riches. But clearly he has lots of self confidence and fighting spirit. Ashwin keeps saying "fight in the dog". The guys with such spirit should be backed or at least respected, even if they are not super talented.

Incredible series by Ash & Sridhar. The punch lines are absolute gold in Tamil and it seems to get diluted in the subtitles..

This third episode had me in splits..

eSmith eGreen
Netrajan to Natarajan
Rahane panicking on watching Nattu's batting against Starc
Oh those Vadivel parallels
It's not the size of the Dog, it's the fight of the Dog:two_thumbs_up:
Shardulkar:hatsoff:

Totally agree, as I have been also been perceiving him incorrectly. But he doesn't help his case by hiding away after defeats and only coming out to make tall, sometimes bizarre, statements after the team wins.

But there is some subtle but significant change in the team dynamic since that Adelaide fiasco. Whilst it's easy to put all of this down to Virat and his subsequent RTI, Sridhar's inputs have clearly indicated that Virat was a vital part of the emergency planning to hit back. Virat has mostly been chasing test wins ever since he took over captaincy and has gotten us mighty close.  Maybe pressure & fatigue caused by captaincy/expectations have caught up with him and hope the long rest, followed by time with his family would have helped him re-focus.

This series' outcome would certainly push forward the power of the collective thought rather than the captain being on his own. I'd expect Rahane, Ash, Rohit etc to be taken more into confidence, whilst planning strategies out. We really need that to happen and for the team to win this series at home and the WTC. Beating England away is very tough and it would cap off a great 2021, if we can pull that off. With Gill, Siraj & Shardul in the ranks, we have a much better chance to pull it off in England.
