ShoonyaSifar Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) Counting Rahul, we had 4 in 2019 WC semis as well. Did not end well. On topic, Rahul IS not a keeper. Kohli-Shastri's deep rooted hate for Pant and their desire to destroy him (to keep Dhoni's place safe for 2020 T20 WC) forced Rahul to take whatever role he was asked to do. Credit to him for making full use of the chance so far but that should not be the long term option. He should play as a specialist batsman and Pant as keeper-batsman if both have to play, not the other way round. The day we start to see Pant as a specialist batsman, will be the end of him. Same with Samson. See him as a keeper-batsman not a specialist batsman, though he has played quite a lot in last 2-3 years as a specialist bat for Kerala and RR. Rohit is a terrible choice as he starts too slow but we know he ain't going anywhere. Having two right hand batsman at the Top is also not ideal. So we need a leftie. Dhawan is a TTF & that leaves us with Kishan & Pant who both can open & do the damage but TM & selectors have no brains left. Edited January 30, 2021 by Lone Wolf

Rahul is our first choice opener in t20is.

Yes he did batted well there but his batting in IPl & afterwards in Australia tour has raised question mark over his approach. He has the ability but needs to back himself often & go for it. He is our best T20 batsman no doubt but needs to be back at his best.. Coz Rohit & Kohli both are slow starters.

Rest of the line up would be great and samson needs a slot t20s for sure hopefully hardik starts bowling again.

He is brilliant when he has no time to think. Damn good finisher in t20 who was 1st wasted due to dhoni now this team doesnt know how to use him. In KKR, his owm aspiration to get big numbers made him bat up amd ruined his best chances. What pandya and DK can do in death overs , there arent many in india who can do that.
