He is not even the best player of his generation of his country, leave aside the wider cricketing world .He'd walk past you on the street and you wouldn't recognise him. AB is a superstar whose body of work will make him recognisable and relevant even after a 100 years. Across the globe. This is simply a case of a small time celeb hanging onto the shirt-tails of something a global super-star said in jest half a decade ago, to stay relevant. Doubt anyone besides indians and desis know or give a **** about AB. Edited February 8, 2021 by Pollack beetle 1

goose Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Amitabh is up there with the world's greatest actors..same bracket as Pacino, De Niro

Peoples of the erstwhile Soviet Union and many from the Middle East, where Bollwyood movies have a sizable following would recognize him in a heartbeat. But that is not the discussion here. Flintoff dug out some really old tweet by AB to 'mock' him. It just makes Flintoff look petty. That he must keep these tweets stashed in some recess of his memory only to wait for an opportune moment to 'hit' back. AB, in all likelihood, was just being enthusiastic about a cricket game and his team. Its just banter. No different than what you and I indulge in on this website.

There are more than 2 billion of us dude, including the entire SC. Let’s not short sell ourselves. In this case though AB comes across as a moron. I mean as an outsider you can be passionate about cricket but the dumb tweet with play on words on another player especially a ATG sounds dumb. Sure he meant no malice but I think he looks like a fool here. Flintoff has won this banter Cricketics and Indwin 2

Imagine Leo or someone writing about Tendulkar, Indians are going to hijack their threads. Indian keyboard tiwtteratis could not even take Sharapova’s comments. Both AB and Flintoff are crass here. Fans shouldn’t worry about defending either of them. Both are sankhis. Ab doesn’t understand cricket while Flintoff seems a loser that he would dig an old tweet. beetle and bowl_out 2

To mouth platitudes to Kohli's all so apparent greatness? It was a play on words yaar ( not particularly funny,I admit). जड़ = Root. Come on? This is trash talking? sarchasm 1

Okay, that too might not be trash but borderline for anplayer who is onenod the world’s best not now but even then, but then why Indians are so defensive of Bachhan? Take the banter then. Flintoff gave it back to him, albeit digging an old tweet. Who cares. Fans are just too possessive and defensive. Most these bolly folks have no clue about the game anyway. What Bachhan said, he deserves a response. Flintoff gave him. Crass but let both knuckleheads fight. Sehwag was becoming the same. He has mellowed down a bit. beetle 1
IndianRenegade Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 (edited) Flintoff had a dig at Kohli, & Bachan responded in Kind. Both are good players, if someone is at fault it was Flintoff. There is nothing wrong but what’s exactly the difference between Tapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bacchan or any other social media celebrity who crave for attention? One would like to think there has to be some decorum at the stature of AB. Sure he is human at the end of the day, more than what he has done right or wrong, it feels weird that AB is just another social media “influencer” than a Demi-god he used to be. Its a harmless dumb tweet. However doesn’t change the fact it is stupid no matter what. Weren’t we up in arms when the Aussie commentator was making fun of Indian names and calling him racist? I mean his commentary felt pretty harmless and without malice even though it was equally or more dumb. beetle 1

At the end of the day everyone trolls and that’s what Twitter is for but one would like to think AB is on a different pedestal. There are different rules for celebrities when it comes to privilege so why can’t there be expectation that they should behave differently? Edited February 8, 2021 by maniac

maniac Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 I wonder what the reaction would be if Hugh Jackman or Russell Crowe or some other Aussie- England movie super star tweets something like “Pant had a wardrobe malfunction” or “Washington has been raided” or something like that. Firstly Flintoff is clearly looking for attention for digging up a 5year old tweet of a star like AB but still can’t believe people are justifying the tweet beetle 1

If you swap Bachchan and Flintoff's places, it'd be talked about as yet another example of Indians not being able to take a joke/banter. Unbelievable lunacy in this thread. It is a stupid tweet in the first place..Root was one of the best in the world at that point of time too and hos tweet was stupid ,juvenile and just kuch bhi! He would not use silly word play on Tendulkar's name or kohli's or smith's name to make a stupid tweet. It was like a 4 year old making a potty joke and feeling proud. Cricketics 1
beetle Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Apni izzat apne hath! If you put out silly attention grabbing tweets out there....expect it to come back and bite you some day because words don't just disappear now. There is no consideration for your fame or age on the internet. Think before you tweet to the world or keep things private.
