If ICC came up with a rule to scrap the toss in Test matches and allow visiting team to decide if they wanted to bowl/bat first, what kind of pitches would we want for our home series ?

Scrapping toss means ...most teams would opt to bat first in our backyard, knowing that a result oriented pitch will crack and deteriorate as the match progresses. 

 

If we prepare a " good batting pitch" - we would  almost always be chasing a huge 1st innings score against other top 3 teams unless Ashwin/Jaddu bowl exceptionally.

 

Our best bet would be to prepare pitches like Ahmedabad , bowl out touring team cheaply and then hope that batsmen improve on their frickin spin bowling skills.

For likes of England, South Africa and New Zealand, they will see more losses at home and will suddenly start seeing more doctored flatter tracks.

Or the Dharamsala track against Australia on the previous tour.  

 

Indian team has improved to the point where the conditions are not as big a factor in their ability to win - but the combo of lopsided conditions along with losing the toss is a tough one to overcome.  India would be the team that probably benefits the most if the toss is eliminated.

Not this crap again. Obviously rarely watched Tests in those counties recently. SA pitches on the coast favour spin these days or start off flat then deteriorate, the Highveld pitches are all about pace and bounce and there’s no way you can “doctor” that. Same with the weather being the primary factor in England NOT the pitch. NZ pitches are always flatter than they look, but their bowlers always know how to bowl on them

Good teams take toss out of the equation ...  worrying about tosses = lack of confidence in the team, which may require most things to go its way  ... as for pitches, I am for pitches that makes games more competitive b/w the bat and the ball, having something for batsmen, pacers and spinners

Fixed that for you.  That's why a random batsman can score 300 against England, who crumble in 2 sessions.  Or Ashwin at #7 scores a century while England collapse.

Cricket is a condition dependent sport so I can't take toss out of the equation.

The same applies to India, though if you're claiming that these teams don't juice up the tracks to favor seam/swing against Asian sides then you're deluded

Lords and the Oval clearly didn’t get the memo to “juice up the track” then. Or Old Trafford which starts flat then spins, or Trent Bridge which can be ridiculously flat if the weather is good a la 2014. 
 

My point about NZ was that their pitches are no minefields, they just have a very good attack for the conditions. As do India in India, you are quite right
