Valiant effort by England but summary of last 3 tests.....

 

 

The previous best was 10: Australia achieved it twice: 1994 to 2001 and then between 2004 and 2008. India's winning streak began with the 4-0 win in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2013. 

 

No other team has more than eight home series victories in a row!!!!!

Great achievement. Where do you see the record ending and who is going to stop us? This is a winning streak, not unbeaten streak, so a drawn series for visitors is enough. 

 

PS: Sad to see BCCI not build on the 2016-17 season and work towards a regular home season for us. Eng/Aus, even RSA and NZ so lucky to have proper home seasons featuring all 3 formats.

2022 seems pretty dry for Test fans with the only series being against SL and Bangbr0s (?) .

2 test or 3 test series affected by rain (Smog!) like SL 2017/18 could halt the juggernaut. Otherwise I don't see us drawing series here for the next 5 odd years.

As per original FTP Aus series was scheduled for Oct 2022 but now been pushed to early 2023. Pathetic scheduling.

The IPL is already our 'home season'. BCCI can't have it all.

Maybe Australia can be a threat if they can find Lyon a capable spin partner.

Doubt any team can beat us for next 5 - 6 years.

 

Only two teams can come close to winning tests in India.

 

1. England. They just lost now.

2. Australia. They have chance if lyon & someone like agar does well for them. He can be their axar but i doubt we will give them rank turners and their batting is not good enough to beat us on good indian pitches.

Aus has the best chance because Smith can/will score heavily. And our top 5 is defunct, with the sole exception of hitman. aus need to find a good 2nd spinner partnering lyon. cummins and hazelwood will both do well.

Aus will tour next in early 2023. Lyon may not even be in the team then, and Smith won't be in beast mode surely. Lot will change for India as well: Shami, Umesh, Ashwin, Jaddu, Rohit, Pujara, Kohli will be in mid/late 30s and in that age bracket decline is generally steep.

Depends on the pitches frankly, we were exhausted going in to the Oz in 2017 - 18/19 tests on the trot IIRC including the series vs WI away. Only Jadeja & Yadav were fully fit bowlers that series & nearly every batter was carrying a niggle or half. Imagine Oz playing a fresh set of bowlers in the last two tests? Now you could point that out as excuses but you'd also know that cricket is a game of fine margins these days extremely fine margins - I doubt Oz can repeat that without major changes in their current setup. Smith even in DBZ mode will unlikely beat a fully fit Indian team 2 years from now!

Chepu, Kohli, Ishant are all amidst steep decline. for 2023, we should have moderately high spinning tracks (not bunsens) and play cricketers who handle spin well. that means the likes of mayank, maybe KLR, shaw, etc.

To beat India in India you need 2 top notch spin bowlers.

 

SENA countries produce fast bowlers easily compared to spinners, so I don't feel threatened by spin.

 

Australia for me, Cummins is a warrior and he will give his heart out the next time he tours here.

31-2 during this streak, unreal domination!!!!!! Did ATG WI, Aus have a W/L of almost 16 at home in an 8 years period?

 

4-5 draws but hardly a couple of them were earned by our opponents.....bad weather and peak BCCI scheduling screwed us in the rest of the drawn games.

we have butchered opponents left and right, not the least being the Kiwis who only play at home and keep winning 2 match series. they are a likeable bunch overall, but get too much credit for their smaller successes.

Not necessarily, Oz won on the back of Warne in 2004 & SA had an excellent record with peak Steyn. Oz can win here - it's cricket after all, but they're highly unlikely to given the state of their batting & almost non existent bowling apart from Cummins. One test wonders ala SoK don't count!
