That's my point, the people react to what leaders do. When they see the government declaring "victory" over Corona, see their leaders in huge rallies, see that all restrictions have been relaxed etc, what would they do? Not everyone can browse Twitter and analyse that second wave is inevitable. It is clear now that even the government took it easy after the first wave, so it is obvious that the people would follow their government

Is it ? They were all following best practices before the political rallies ?

Or maybe they were expert economists until 2014 and became tea/pakoda sellers overnight ?

The politically inspired crap u post here is ridiculous.

This is just selective utter non sense at so many levels. But I think this has been blown apart in the past few weeks. Don’t want to go back to this again.
But if there is a guy in Mumbai, looking at Kumbh and thinking that pandemic is over, people are way more stupid than I thought.

Bhai in our country we have to teach about importance of toilets you want people to learn about a virus, vaccines, etc :phehe:

I don’t know how, but we always blame everything on somebody else. It’s the government, bureaucracy, politicians, private corporations, etc. Yes Mai baap government gets the first blame, but when they enforced the first lockdown for three months, remember how every journalist, keyboard warrior, twitterati became economists and started to worry about GDP, economy and future. They inflated the migrant issues with Barkha Dutt and others doing road shows, would show barefooted migrants , but wouldn’t help them. Leeches.

After the first wave subsided. Everybody became an expert on genetics and started writing theories of how deaths and cases were plummeting in India , this happened even in March.

Yes, everybody has to get back to work. There was no need to be superspreaders. Govt kept its guard down mainly because of GDP growth projections showing as high as 12% and didn’t want to harm that. Everybody would turn back to becoming economists.

Yet, there were 2nd waves in USA, Eu, Brazil where the solutions were simply to go vaccinate people, mask and social distancing. This is a serious lapse of the governments - state and central. If ministers are busy in elections, the bureaucracy, justice depts, could have worked. While educated people could have spent less on worrying where to eat next , in which fancy restaurant.

End mein thappad khane ko bas gormint hi milte hain (in the end. Govt gets slapped)

Yes, that's problem aswell nobody will appreciate when good work in done in last wave we had lockdown which gave our doctors time collect information and be better prepared and others to get ready aswell we never know how much we lives saved with those but lost out in economy. We put people first and economy second , f\

But many were  negatives because they though we economy is most important now we will see how economy first goes,  I bet most people will think now our first strategy was better

Well I didn’t say all people. I said educated people. I visited three cities including Chennai over last 4 months. People are behaving as though everything is back to normal. Yes, everything was good but the virus was still out there and people refused to wear masks. Those who had not got their first vaccines and were vulnerable were out. Why were the vulnerable crowding to buy sarees ? This is nothing but casual attitude.

Blaming govts and expecting them to protect you at each stage is a sign of incompetence or irresponsibility. This spread has not happened because people had to go out. This has happened because educated informed people did not exercise their discretion. People want to celebrate festivals and attend weddings. Then what’s wrong with rally. It’s the same virus.

People who don’t want to take accountability for their own actions will keep finding parties to blame. So, the guy attending Stalin’s rally got his cues from PM ? It’s interesting you don’t bring up politicians in TN.

Politicians are same world over. Elections in US didn’t stop when there were more than 200,000 cases or 4000 deaths. If you expect a nany state to protect you, you are living in Lala land. This will be a tough learning experience for Indians. There was no other way but go through this.

Man GTFO with your whataboutery. I am talking about all politicians here. People follow the leaders and if they act like nothing wrong , then the people would obviously go on with their lives. As simple as that. Atleast the people in US did not die because of lack of oxygen. Dying from Corona is different from Dying because of lack of resources.  Understand the difference first, then argue.

On the same lines, others cannot minimize the impact of Kumbh Mela and election rallies (and yes, Ramzan and Tablighi and church-going or an atheist conference).  Each has a multiplier effect.

Man I give up. Yes I agree with you all. our country deserves this. Our people are stupid. The government is struggling because of the stupidity of the people and not vice versa.

All I can say is I am glad many of you seem to be Boomers settled in other countries. I hope the next generation atleast has some common sense.

It's all hindsight & 20-20 vision. Imagine this happening last year in April-May, we'd be shouting how lessons from Europe were just ignored. We didn't even have enough masks, sanitisers or PPE kits, remdesivir was in R&D phase. Our oxygen production was lesser.

You have no idea . Last year, of the many deaths, a family of 3 , that I know through acquaintances, In NY died because of lack of ventilators and no hospital beds. No country is prepared for sudden surge of needs. Oxygen demand is a surge, that even a country like US is not prepared for. When need arises, they manage it. Katrina happened showed how little US had invested in FEMA.

A power hit during hurricane in a nursing home in Florida, caused 20 deaths, as it didn’t maintain its generators or alternate power supply

I hope this second wave is an eye opener for everyone in India (public and govt). We can't afford any further wave like European countries. Surprisingly Japan is facing 4th wave. I think vaccination is here to stay. Quite possibly you will need to vaccinate people every year.

The problem is u inventing cock & bull stories here for an agenda.

Most people in India do what they like to do and get away with anything as far as possible, be it wearing mask, driving on wrong side or tax evasion. You have to be a pathalogical liar to spin it as entirely govts fault.

Governments, Bureaucracy, Corporations, NGOs, And Educated people of the country

Didn’t see anything in Delhi but in prayag, UP , allmost every junction, public place and roundabout, there was constant anouncement 24x7 about Covid related measures , precautions and risks.  So , I can’t say that I wasn’t aware and simply say govmnt didn’t share info. Issue is about timely vaccinating India. We didn’t reach there but then, initially , people were opposed to vaccine itself.

"Entirely".  The word that causes all problems.  It's not entirely anyone's fault.  Shared responsibility.  Shared blame.  Point one finger outward and one inward.

I have an uncle in India, who is retired well to do with a refrigerator at home, goes to buy vegetables fresh everyday.  Says refrigerator veggies cause immunity problems. Fresh is the way to fight Corona  According to some WAU forwards. They should ban WA for all the misinformation people share with impunity

Governments should be blamed its their job is serve the people and to take right decision if you blame government it doesn't mean you can't vote for them next time  if you still think they are best ,I don't understand why people take attacking government personally

Its like  if you get watchman to your house you expect him  make sure there is no robbery that's why you appointed him. now when robbery happens  he can't say I am not responsible   thieves should behave  or there is door lock your house he shouldn't have able to go in, same if its prefect world probably we don't need government

Exactly, my father in law is IIT BTech, retired as head of a group of Industries last year. Very difficult to win arguement with him. He says why vaccinate if there is no problem.

I coaxed my parents and brothers and brothet in laws family gets vaccinated only after i and wife got vaccine. Just wanted to be sure about its impact in my gene tree before asking them.

So , if vaccine is effective then fear of vaccine is equally real. We all are humans and fear is natural.
