Oxygen too.As per PMO's press release,162 oxygen plants were to be set up by central body CMSS.However as per Ministry of Health, only 33 were installed upto 18 April.

https://factly.in/this-post-misleads-people-by-blaming-only-states-for-the-delay-in-installing-the-oxygen-plants/

This lack of preparedness sent people looking for oxygen until courts stepped in.

So it is lazy to say Centre is faultless. Also NDMA is still in force I guess

As @mishrasaid,its a collective failure.Everyone is to be blamed including people. But people are paying for it in the worst way .How will these leaders, both central and state, pay for this?Nothing will happen to them. They will get best facilities for themselves and their dear ones and then act like nothing happened

End of rant

Trying to find something on this. Can you provide a source link for this? Thanks

When we want to pin accountability for present and future, you better be sure who is responsible for what. Otherwise you are left chasing the goose now and forever.

Now factly seems another narrative based propoganda website. I took the additional effort to read press release.

"The Govt. hospitals where these plants are to be installed have been identified in consultation with the States/UTs concerned."

https://www.pmindia.gov.in/en/news_updates/pm-cares-fund-trust-allocates-rs-201-58-crores-for-installation-of-162-dedicated-psa-medical-oxygen-generation-plants-in-public-health-facilities/

Central govt cannot to set up oxygen plants at States. States have to provide PSA demands based on their requirement. Centre can approve and provide funds. But the execution is for the State.  For egs:- State of Delhi received 17 Cr for 8 oxygen plants in Delhi mentioned in press release and how many did they build ? This is not a question to centre.

For the record, I love the fact that we are going after our politicians, centre or state. I think we should do this more. But people must know who is responsible for what and who is screwing up their job.

As for national emergency, it’s a simple one. If national emergency was in place, none of the states would have had freedom to make rules for imposing or relaxing restrictions.

As human populations achieve herd immunity, the infection rate reaches a lower steady state and keeps overall replication rates low.

Fewer rounds of replication --> Fewer changes in gene sequence --> Fewer variants  --> Fewer VOCs (variants of concern).

Moreover, the less deadly variants tend to coexist better with humans and circulate more than the ones that end up killing their hosts.  So, the less deadly ones linger long-term causing milder disease and not setting off alarm bells in human minds.

To reach that steady state where specific, less deadly variants become "endemic," we have 2 options:

(a) let populations reach herd immunity naturally (which is what many people want, but that will kill large numbers of people over many years like the Spanish flu did.  At that rate, 140 million people would die today.).

(b) The other option is to reach herd immunity by vaccination.

In the meantime keep replication rates low by physical distancing, masks etc. because ... Fewer rounds of replication --> Fewer .... (you get my drift).

Nice post  +

So heard immunity and low replication rate. Explain this paradox here to me. What am I missing. I think low replication rate with fewer variant is only possible if we vaccinate right. But to achieve heard immunity, through mass contraction would mean it will cause high replication (mutation, more variants?).

I went through the link you provided.Nowhere it is mentioned that installation is to done by States.Only routine operation & maintenance is to done by them(as per link).OTOH Ministry of Health have tweeted that 33 plants have been installed ans states have 'appreciated' the same.

The press release also doesn't give state wise allocation of funds but tweets mentioned entire cost borne by centre.

Confusing

IMO, Every one, but lion share goes to Modi, Indian scientific/Medical community Health Ministry, Home Ministry and then state CMs and then some share goes to our poverty too.

This.

People had stopped wearing masks . Social distancing was a joke . Wedding happened like there was no pandemic going on .

The blackmarketeers  who  are acting like scavengers , the hospitals who reserved beds for the healthy mighty people, who raised prices of everything.

The ambulance services , the cremation services who raised their rates to profit from this tragedy.....everyone is responsible for what has happened.

What confusing. You give money for services. You gave the money, you didn’t get services. So why the hell you won’t be questioning? States were to build but shouldnt centre have monitored/audited the status of money spent.

Remember Nirbhaya fund. It was never spent. Reason: State minister don’t even bother if value of funds is in few crores. It has to be in tune of atleast few hundred crores. That’s exactly what happened in this case too.

And pvt hospitals like Max, they bloody deal in crores daily. How can they not afford to add couple of crores to their operational expense to have their own oxygen plant. Cost is peanuts for them as well.

Everyone assumed Corona was over, be it PM CM Scientist, doctors or people.

Yeah, simply put centre cannot by itself set up oxygen plant in the state. Just as it cannot set up a factory or any unit in the state. Even to setup a govt sector unit, it has to be routed through state govt.

Having said that, they are not blameless. If the state, is not doing its jobs, centre should have red flagged or started screaming from rooftop.

State CM are chewts. We all know. Why would Modi  also not know this basic stuff.  People sent him with huge mandate. They trusted him to do better.

People who have natural immunity will survive the virus, keeping its replication under control.  Others will die.  Eventually, most survivors would have developed immunity and if infected, they will fight it off quickly.  They may spread it to others, but those others are also likely to be immune, can keep its replication down in their bodies, and have only mild symptoms.  The virus then "settles" or "stabilizes" or "becomes endemic" in our population like the cold virus.

For those who don't care about the high death rate at the front end, this is an awesome strategy.  They will invoke Darwin and survival of fittest etc., until it hits them or their loved ones.

To my mind he can’t make oxygen plants for states. So apart from optics not sure what he can do. And on that one thing he screwed up.
