Actually it’s 12 weeks in UK as well. A 3 month gap helps to increase immunity as per medical advice in UK. India should not have promised 4 weeks in first place. Scientifically it didn’t make sense.

12 week was based on vaccine availability vs population coverage. It was a call made by PM that increase it to 12 weeks so that it will increase immunity among greater number of people with same number of vaccine

Either ways if goals of higher reach and greater efficacy is achieved, aur kya chahiye.

Centre says: India will have over 2 billion vaccine doses between August-Dec. 
 

Man, is it even possible? If they reach 50-75% of that target, I will be really really happy. So its time to put head down and deliver.

SII was complaining about raw materials for vaccines. How is this even possible they can make so many vaccines in span of few months  ? Hopefully this is not another BJP empty promise.

Exactly, my thoughts. but lets wait and see. UP has definitely promised to make manufacturing unit wit 2 crore  per month capacity in PSU. I think other states would have pitched in too specially infra rich Maharashtra and Gujrat

The raw material shortage was not for covidshield. It was for other vaccine.

750 million of AstraZeneca. That’s the majority of vaccines.

It was for SII. Covaxin doesn’t depend on raw materials from USA

Indian companies are starting to make more raw material to compensate.

Two things i can think off.  There is temporary waiver, govmnt is trying to use that waiver.

 

Unlike end of wave 1, now Indian scientific community has sense of zero risk approach  and think there will be wave 3 and it will be coming after children. Now, whatever the cost and wastage, I do not want to see corona raising havoc among young kids. Kids are life. No way, under any circumstances, we want parent to grieve for kids.
