Robin Singh served India well as a utility white ball cricketer.

Rashid Khan is only 22.  Should he opt to play for India and become a citizen ( like West Indian Robin Singh did) , would he be an automatic selection in white ball cricket ?

He already spends more than 60 % of his time in India.

T20Is - in a heartbeat.

ODIs - not sure; don't know his record.

Would never ever, ever want India to go the England route and steal good players from other countries.

India doesnt need to.

What if *he* really wanted it?  Maybe he meets this really awesome desi person he wants to marry and settle with in Mumbai.

From an individual rights standpoint, I'd want to support his desires, no?  Cricket is secondary ;-).

The prestige and power, affluence and money ( if you are amongst the top players ) that comes with being an India cricketer is incomparable in world cricket.

Even England and Aussie cricketers are not close. Afghanistan is still a minnow in every aspect.

Rashid Khan has assimilated well into the Indian culture, way of life and language like just another local and cannot blame him if he makes a practical move.

Would not be surprised if he makes any such move after sending feelers and testing the waters.

Agree with @sandeep though. It would be an utter shame on us, if we have to engage in poaching players of other nationalities like England, given our size and the money and resources in Indian cricket now.

Nooo why ? Why would you want to weaken Afghanistan team. His name is Rashid Khan he looks and acts Afghanistan, he should play for Afghanistan. Eng being a big country ate so many Ireland players and SA players. Imagine an Ireland with Morgan dockrell and others they might be a decent test side by now and eng shamelessly funked it up

Yes he would be an automatic pick in LOIs..  But do we seriously need him?  He is a role model in Afghanistan..  Some things go beyond cricket & money.  I am sure Rashid has earned good amount already in IPl & playing other leagues.

Is this even a question?

The guy is the best white ball spinner in the world...

And on top of that, he also the capability of scoring a quick fire 40(20) with the bat...

On top of even that, he's a brilliant fielder....

Just to put things into perspective, we have Chahal.

The fact that SRH have all 3 Afghan t20 players  in their team and this country has the most representation of all other Asian countries ( Pak, SL, Bang and Nepal) which shows that more these Afghan players become role models and are able to invest some of their riches in grassroot cricket in Afghanistan, it will not take long for them to be on the same level as Bangladesh and SL ( or even better) No way India should poach him or he should decide to play for India. Earning money and playing for your country is two different things.

Btw... England doesn't "poach" players in the sense of actively inviting them. Players choose to migrate there for the opportunities and because of a European Court of Justice ruling regarding Kolpak that was out of the sporting authorities hands.

Not true. They actively recruit young promising cricketers in their teenage years.
