just one gold will see the flood gates open. I predict India to win atleast 3 golds

Tomorrow is a wonderful chance.

Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary in mixed event, 10m air pistol starting at 5:30.

Was seeing the other pairs and their performance in individual. As a team we are right up there with the best.....teams like Russia, China, USA, South Korea, Iran will be our competitors. Many countries have one excellent shooter and another mediocre one from the other gender.

Meanwhile Vidit enters FIDE WC QF in Sochi. If things go as per seeding, he is slated to face Grischuk in QF, if he can upset him SF against Magnus Carlsen awaits. Because of the draw even if he loses to MC, can qualify to next Candidates.

Few Indian juniors had encouraging runs, Harikrishna choked in R16 despite draw opening up favorably, Anand didn't participate and preferred facing Kasparov and Kramnik in Zagreb/Dortmund.

206 players started, only 8 will remain after tomorrow LINK

Anand won the 1st 2 editions of the WC (in 2000 and 2002), after that played only once in 2005-21 period. Vidit's performance is the best by an Indian since then.

Unrelated but thought I would share this good news here. Maharashtra may lack participation in Tokyo but Nashik boy doing India proud elsewhere, so cheer up @G_B_

All. Almost all Olympians dope.

Top athletes who win medals are all doping. Just have better masking agents to Cover up. Indian don't have that access due to poor resources. The india do have an advanced doping program, they will medals in all sports.

Every 100 m sprinter is on roids. Hard to catch them because they have top notch designer drugs.

Russians have been banned before.

Chinese have been banned. Americans have been banned but they just keep developing more advanced masking agents to cover up their heinous doping programs.

see the thing is doping is only effective on strength and stamina sports like weightlifting, cycling, rowing, swimming, wrestling. In boxing even if you dope it wont have much impact as its more skills based than strength. The hardness of punches dont increase due to dope and boxing is only 3 rounds 3 mins each so its not that you need stamina. Shooting, Archery, Fencing all are skills based. So is table tennis, badminton, tennis, shooting. So even if we accept they dope you cannot discount the fact that these countries still win loads of medals in other skill events…India had lots of issues with doping in weight lifting. Every second day someone was getting caught.. now hopefully it has ceased.. or who knows..

Oh there are drugs to help you  improve response time. Americans are kings of mass producing such drugs for baseball etc.

Do you know how much more beneficial it is to anticipate what your opponent is doing or being able to react quicker in general?

Shooting and archery I agree would require more skill. However, there are drugs to help you focus and concentrate better too.

"So what is the field like in air pistol mixed team?" was one of the questions yesterday at our daily discussion on Olympics in Clubhouse at 9PM IST.

Javad Foroughi and Haniyeh Rostamiyan (IRI), Olena Kostevych and Oleh Omelchuk (UKR), Artem Chernousov and Vitalina Batsarashkina (ROC), Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei (CHN), Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec (SRB).

THAT. THAT IS WHAT THE FIELD IS LIKE. Yes, nobody said it's going to be easy but Manu-Saurabh and Abhishek-Yashaswini have been here before; way too many times.
