KL should not open, I don't think he will survive even if he looks better than our openers at this stage.

He has an outside chance of having a very good no5 for 5-6 years, so if he's picked it should be only at 5 both in ODI and Tests

yup he shudnt open

Really liked KL till now, Middle order wud suit him.

He should be at #5 minimum after Kohli. #6 is meaningless.

as if our other options are expert openers,Rahul has a better chance of surviving than any other choice we have.

He hasnt played red ball for long time and this was after 2 yrs, playing new ball in england is diff game. If he is doing well at a positon why to change it

He is a stroke player and its best they face a bit of an old ball

Srikkanth, Sehwag, Tendulkar (in early days) had this kind of skill to go after bowling from the word go.  Current lot takes time. Roy is bit like Sehwag in that regard. Producing big overs early on.

Indeed, just blindly going by stats is incorrect. I've never seen Vihari score fluently ever.

To be fair he was uber fluent in

indias tour of windies.. he was really good in that.. scored a 100 n 90 odd..

If Rahul ends up opening - that would be classic clown thinking. Rahul needs to play at 5/6!

So really we can expect Rahul to open the batting then in the first test.
