India v NZ which is best test team in the world?

as if the wtc final wasn't held in conditions absolutely conductive to nz due to "england being home of cricket".

 

its like saying nadal is the best player in the world in 06-07 era cause he beat federer in the french open.

 

nz have not even won home series against sa and aus. they were whitewashed in oz and ind and couldnt win in sl.

 

imagine early 00s india team playing a wtc final in bangladesh against aus and defeating them and being "the best team in the world". was india the best team in the world post the 01 win against oz?

One off game and if i'm not wrong they got there on a technicality. they are more a team who got to the top rankings sneakily rather than being dominant.

NZ also won the series in Eng, that too with Stokes in team. Let this series finish first.

 

Undermining the WTC final win is like undermining our WC 2011 win, then it should not count as well. Also, the Test rankings should also not matter given than NZ is way ahead on it.

 

India and NZ are the two Top Test teams, no questions about that. But neither team is as dominant as WI or Aus in their prime years. They are more or less of the level of SA and Aus few years back, with each having some weaknesses.

Look at the team we picked. We dint play tour games before the final. England played 2 full games vs englaund. 

 

We dint play siraj, shardul. We picked 2 spinners. That alone was a fatal move. 

 

Not to mention our gabba hero's like sundar dint play in middle order who were in peak form apart from Gill.

Newzealand without a doubt, their Fast Bowling is on Par with us, Our spinners are better, but their Batting form currently is miles ahead of us, we cant beat newzealand with that week and meek middle order of ours.

Yes I did. Playing nz in conditions that suit them and losing doesn’t remove the last 4-5 years of cricket.

Nz are a top team but not the best team in the world. They took advantage of favorable conditions to get to the wtc final and win it.

not really, putting things into perspective doesn't mean you don't want to win a one off game either.

NZ won one test in England & we have also done that already. These guys don't even play that much test cricket to be even considered for that tag, 2 test matches per series.

My mind always goes back to their annihilation in Aus, you cannot be the best side in the world if you cannot even compete in one of the series in that cycle.

Also, next time ICC should be gracious enough to provide similar practice matches/series to both WTC finalists unlike this time around.
