NZ marginally ahead, WTC F sealed the deal. Had that duel been a draw, it would have been India as undisputed #1. But right now Kiwis are world champs, with 3 consecutive crushing victories over India.

The test series later this year will be fun, knowing Kohli's luck and the mental stranglehold they have over some of our players, won't be surprised if they draw or even win the series. Fully expecting BCCI to schedule the games in venues which assist swing/seam, and where there is high probability of rain. Easier for them to win a 2 test series and with our garbage 3-5 we are vulnerable.

PS: On paper we are the strongest side in the world but can't argue with results. WTC F was the biggest test match in cricket history ( @SK_IH will disagree) and we couldn't save it despite 2.5 days rain. Can't argue with results. We did beat NZ at home easily but that was 5+ years back.

In theory NZ should not be anywhere near us.

Our fragile unmeritorious middle order will ensure that when push comes to shove, they will get the better of us.

Our swing bowlers don't have the same consistency as their seamers on helpful pitches.

Their batters certainly have better big match temperament.

If we are led by Rohit, and Rat is given an ultimatum to perform or be booted out - India will beat NZ 9/10 times.

What a run these Kiwis are having since 2015 across formats!!!!

World Test Champions

2016 WT20 SF, topped the group beating India on a rank turner

Whole heartedly disagree with this assessment. Any team that surrendered as meekly as NZ in Aus cannot be taken seriously when talking about best in the world. That was minnow level bashing they got.

Ghanta best in the world, if India maintain this intensity in Eng then India are undisputedly best test side in the world (arguably the best in the world anyway), they have reasources for every condition, a mediocre batting unit but there is enough cover in lower half to sustain & get a competitive score. I have zero value of WTC, it doesn't prove anything, just a glorified gimmick.

If we win this England series..  We have every right to be best side in the World.

Right now losing 3 back to back tests vs NZ including the Finals makes them better.

They have a better batting unit than us coz we have duds like Pujju Rahane & Kolli.

Bowling attack if we include Siraj as well...  I'll give us an edge.

We have also treated them with kid gloves when they tour India for tests. This should bloody hell stop.

They prepare the worst effing pitches for us, and we welcome them with pattas for India tests.

I would prepare the worst rank turners for them and show them the scorecards of our test tours there.

Whitewash them when they tour India.

Yep they reserve the worst pitches for us..  2002 tour has legendary status in terms of doctored pitches.

We have won back to back series in Aus.  We might as well win in Eng, But our record in NZ has been abysmal for almost a decade.  On 2020 tour too, our performance was minnow level. (0-2 whitewash with both the matches ending within 2.5 days)

Which is the best team is debatable.  It depends on the conditions and lots of other factors. As simple as that.

In conditions where it swings (Eng/NZ/Ire) -

Bowling: both teams on par

Batting: NZ

In conditions where it seams (SA/WI):

Bowling: Ind (extra pace)

Batting: probably par

In conditions where it is bouncy (Aus/SA)

Bowling: Par ( Kyle J factor)

Batting: Ind ( just need to neutralize KJ which they can if it doesn't swing too much)

In conditions where it is dry/spinning (Ind/SL/Pak/Bang/UAE)

Bowling/Batting: India

So, theoretically, if they were to play each other in each of the test playing country, it would be 70:30 India. The only countries where NZ can beat India in a 3+ test series would be Eng, NZ and Ireland. That too because of batting - Puj, Kohli & Rahane. If Gill replaces Pujara and Kohli regains form, India can easily beat NZ.

At home in India, NZ will be toughest team to beat because they have 2-3 batsmen who play spin very well. However, India need to make the practical call of not playing Rahane on spinning tracks. Will Virat have the balls to drop him this November?

Was our tour to NZ last year any different?

Anyway if we win this series and annihilate NZ at home, pendulum will swing back in our favor.

nope we are better in bouncy condition...we have more bowlers - shami, bumrah, ishant, siraj who can exploit condition and ill add thakur, prasidh, avesh

NZ have wagner , jamieson (untested though).....southee, boult(who nyways is struggling in test) wont do that well

That's a myth, when it spins, much like when it swings/seams in Eng, there's really no hiding even for the best players out there! Remember Root's score in Chennai first test & then on pitches which aided some spin or a lot of spin? Yeah that x2 for NZ, KW is a minnow basher & right now not in the same league as Root. If it spins, which it will, or spins big we'll humiliate them!

Won't argue with test rankings. Even if we win this series 4-0 we'll be at 125 points, NZ will stay at top until our series against them later this year.

if fragile middle order is our problem well nz have their own problems like spin , playing spin , bowling for conditions like Ind and Aus where u need pace n hit the deck kind of bowler, infact i have always beilived Nz can be bullied with pace as aussies do or akthar use to
