Its understandable ( although disgusting )  that BCCI and the selectors are all complicit in allowing this  'star culture' and 'commercial power play' to go unchecked.

 

It is a shame the none of the big media houses - Republic, Times, India Today...etc are calling out Virat's extended bad run and questioning his place in the side as a batsman.

 

It is an extraordinary privilege to be the 11  to represent 1.3 billion.  Nobody is indispensable - great players have come and gone and nothing has stopped the rise of Indian cricket.

 

So this is not about what media selling what sells in the cricket market, but the media being a sell out.

 

I wish so badly that some journalist with a pair cornered Kohli in a press conference, walked him through his numbers over the last 2 years and asked him point blank,

" Do you deserve to in the side as a player based on those numbers " ?

Go to any YouTube video of Pant and you will see indians all praising how Kohli supported pant. The same kohli who dropped him from all formats and didnt select him for first test

I do agree that ultimately series results matter not individual milestones but seriously our middle order has taken it too far.  We have miraculously won Lords. 

 

3,4,5 literally inspire zero confidence.  2018 side had actually marginally better batting unit. 

If they had Stokes Woakes Archer it would have been completely different scenario.

Oxford university is a den of spies. No wonder its praised as a great university. Same with Cambridge, Harvard, etc. I think Gandhi and Arnab also studied there. As if aussies dont revere bradman. Go to any aussie forum and question bradman and see what happens. No one laughs at them? But using a smily God which every sane human knows is just a nickname, is the problem? Why do you care what angrez say, do you need their approval?

Its more than just a nickname. people like you get into fits of anger if I even say your favorite player is not the best in the world. If there is no hero worship, you wouldn't be acting like that. I guess aussies are no different from us after all. I'm not going to argue that there is no hero worship in the west because I know there is. There is a reason why such superstars feature in ads both here and in the west.
