Rahane has not done anything worthwhile and Jadeja looks a confident batter to warrant a place up the order.

Warn Pant and give him a last chance.

Bring SKY or Vihari into the team.

Depending on the conditions, Ashwin can play.

Bring Shardul Thakur in place of Ishant Sharma.

I would drop Pujara also but the management will go by runs in this Test.

Jadeja is no Gary Sobers, Playing at No. 7 and Playing at No. 5 is an entirely different ball game, especially in SENA conditions. we should rather look at options like Washington Sundar at No. 5, or bring Rahul down the order and Play Eswaran who is a specialized opener. Washi is a perfect choice for Number 5, he has patience and can build the innings.

Yup, batting in the top 5 can be different including the pressure ... It could turn out to be like Pakistan promoting Afridi in swinging conditions

playing jadeja higher will not solve any issue. I am a big fan of Pant, but he looks very out of sorts right now. Ideally, within the current squad that is available right now (e.g., no Sundar), I would like to see the following, but it ain't gonna happen:

 

Shaw, Rohit, Vihari, Mayank, KL (wk), SKY, Ashwin, Thakur, Shami/Umesh, Siraj, Bumrah

50 and 40 and 30 when others falling around him. I was looking at the fall of wickets, he was almost always with the tail. No middle order batsman is playing long innings before Jadeja comes.

Why? Jadeja has scored 50,40,30 at 7. Why will he not hit more even 100 if he is sent in place of Rahane.

Afridi had no technique, Jaddu has good technique, infact better than most in the current team.

Well, they have included him in the XI ahead of Ashwin for his batting.

My only point his main job should become batting and he should bat at No.5 as his technique is much better than most in the team.
