Everybody knew he was injured though.He wasnt hiding it.Captain still played him like Ishant last Test looked unfit.

As per process, Team doc/physio has to clear the player based on fitness tests and player's own feedback on pain levels during specific activities. So either Ashwin would have wrongly mentioned to physio that pain is manageable and will not impact his bowling OR physio reported the issue and team management still took that risk which is even dumber. Frankly, in this team, no one knows how things are managed.

 

But I would have expected Ashwin to be honest and tell them he can't really bowl over a 5-day match (unlike ODI/T20I where you can take a risk on slightly unfit player). In fact, many a times abdomen injuries can aggravate and lead to more serious issues. Only Ashwin knew how bad he felt - what happened during the match proved that he had overestimated his own ability to bowl at full tilt over 5 days.

In WTC, Ashwin picked one wicket of Latham and one of Wagner. People are overeating like he picked 4 wickets in first in innings. Second innings didn't even matter.

Butler is top 6 batsman. Moeen, Curran have always thorn for us. Regarding old ball, others also didn't pick wickets with old ball. That was a match turning spell from him in both innings. Second innings he got Haseeb who was settled and making a partnership with Root then same with Bairstaw just before tea. These are top order wickets. Was second best bowler for us behind Siraj in that test.

It's a pretty decent record and if he got a run of 2-3 consecutive tests, he could have improved it further. our middle order is very poor, but so is that of eng. he could have certainly bagged more wkts than jadeja has

maybe, maybe not. what i mentioned is not a 'conspiracy', it could well be within the realms of possibility considering we are not privy to many things. You can only read the tea leaves like they say.

Jealousy is mixed in somewhere I think. From  the current team, only Kohli and Ashwin can reach the ATG status so there is definitely something brewing.

 

Another reason is Virat's fascination with the fast bowlers. He wants to "dominate" with fast bowlers, bouncing out the opponent. He wants to be aggressive.

Oh really? this place would lose part of it's life's purpose if it weren't discussing Kohli and his pettiness in every other thread. At any rate i don't agree that it is when such things have happened in the past. It's not like Ashwin was dropped for a series in india where it would beggar belief. That alone makes it a reasonable hypothesis rather than a conspiracy theory.
