what's the problem if Virat wanted Dhawan ?

Selectors could see that going into a home world cup with the top 3 aged 38, 36 and 35 could be a problem. So the eldest out of the three has to be moved out and a ykung player who had done so well in VH Trophy had to be given chance

But for Kohli, friendships matter more than the team's interests.

Let Virat request for Akshay Kumar in the squad its selectors job to select 15 members which aligns with teams goal and vision. If they didnt think Dhawan fit in the vision they have every right to overrule Kohli. I blame selectors for giving in and not Kohli.

What would have kohli requested, i want an attacking left handed opener, i want dhawan. Selectors could have easily selected padikkal

BCCI has already brought Kohli back to ground. Selecting 6 MI players but only 1 from RCB(Kohli himself), Kohli giving up T20 capt). Welcome Change for both India and Kohli.

So Dhawan's selection is on Kohli but the 6 MI players are picked by selectors.?

Choose one side: Either Kohli has a say in selection or he does not.

Yes Because he had unconditional power then and no one could over rule him then.  Now BCCI had enough and put their foot down after thw WTC final.

If you remember the first signs of this were when Kohlis demand to send Shaw and Padikkal were rejected by BCCI

I dont see how this is difficult to follow. Kohli had unconditional power once and did use them to select his favorites, with lack of results, those powers have finally beem clipped

So Kohli was powerful in March but not in July. Lol

Now you will come up with something to justify this also.

If you want to play this game of microanalysing and applying filters without a shred of proof then I can also do the same.

Selection committee selects players keeping Captain in confidence, if Chahal has been dropped that means Kohli was ok with that, same goes with selection of 6 MI players.

Also you missed the whole point, posters here are saying that RCB player's like Siraj not being selected shows Kohli's demands haven't been met, now these are the same people who say Kohli has no hand in selecting Siraj in tests. Hypocrisy at it's best.

Kohli PR clutching at the straws now. Poor souls were arrogantly going around saying they will teach everyone a lesson when Kohli was 40* in WTC (imagine the desperation).

How things have turned upside down for them within a few weeks

Kohli was definitely powerful till march. He is the biggest brand in indian cricket and took advantage of it. But there is a point in every powerful players career when he will lose power. Happened to dhoni too, he was untouchable till finally his form and final failures took a toll on him and he was sidelined.

WTC final was the turning point for Kohlis power

As for siraj, if there is one thing kohli plays no politics in, its fast bowling. He knows thats his USP and reason he wins tests. So fast bowling choice is completely non biased and kohli played a huge part in selecting Siraj

However when it comes to batsmen and spinners, he definitely has his bias and also rewards his cronies.
