Doesn't make sense.. They should part ways with Kumble.

Don't tell me they are going to retain Gayle, Bishnoi and Akshadeep

A player himself can also tell the franchise that he doesnt want to be retained .

Carrying the team only by himself. He looked dejected this season. RCB might target him. Local boy and potential captain.

That match where they couldn't score 4 runs in the last over was an absolute crusher! Their middle order is utterly hopeless. Ideally Rahul should try to fight it out for another year with a couple of.good acquisitions for the mide order, but with 2 new teams and an auction coming up, this is the best time to move, to cash in on that breathtaking knock in his most recent recent match.

Also, he is at peak of his career now. Did reasonbly well in tests vs England, opener in T20WC and WK in ODIs. He has never been such secure in terms of his position in playing XI. With 4 seasons of 500+ runs, he is sure shot of 15 crores in next auction. In the current generation of players (after Kohli and Rohit), he has maximum fan-following.

He has to sometime in future, he will ....ppl have extreme misconceptions about him

Kohli is an idiot on the field, but very smart and cunning off it. By reiterating his desire to play for RCB, he is trying to force the owners to pick him. Unless they want whitewash the money, the owners would be stupid to pay anywhere close to what they are paying Kohli currently. Despite giving himself the best possible batting spot, he can't muster anything of impact. He has nothing to offer his team. He neither has the skill or temperament to come in late and ace tough chases nor can he play a match turning blinder up top. He is washed up, he is done in T20. The sane thing to do for him would be to just skip the format altogether and try to salvage his test and ODI career. His 2016 level form is not going to come back, ever.

In his mind, he would have retired as a captain from all formats including IPL. It's all about the money and the brand. And that's the main reason why he will find it extremely difficult to adjust to playing under any other captain except someone senior to him.

The Aus series win under Rahane followed by WTC final loss upset all his calculations. Hence all the drama about quitting captaincy and all, nothing but a desperate measure to cling onto captaincy in at least one format.

What kind of a brand value could there be in a player in terminal decline in batting form who leads his team to loss after loss in big games? Dhoni isnt scoring runs either but he has the Midas touch in captaincy and his players love and respect.him. He can work magic with an average team and make ordinary or old players play like absolute champs. Fans also love him and the opposition respects him the world over. Kohli is an inverse of all this.

Look at their respective social media reach

Kohli vs Dhoni

Twitter: 44m vs 8.5m

IG: 160M vs 35.4m

That's where Kohli draws all his power from.
