Can we ask this of Virat ??

He will never do it. That's why he opens, to scratch out a few easy runs and keep his place safe.

he would have retired or excused himself from the T20 selection...  one cant expect the same standard from Kohli as Dravid/Sachin/Ganguly did in 2007

You can ask.

His reply will be an emphatic NO. Followed by a string of expletives, these days reserved for Indian junior players in opposing IPL teams.

what this hate for Virat ? i dont see any reason why he shouldnt be in our t20 squad as a batsman .

Since you ask in good faith:

The displeasure you see is not for Virat the batsman. He is a great bat. Out of form for a few years, but when he retires he would be one of the best India the world has seen.

That said, his T20 batting is sub par. And has been so for a while. The IPL was a good reminder of what he is capable of. Or not.

Kohli is disliked because:

  • We host a WC in 2023 and *will not win* with Kohli leading. BCCI should have relieved him of his ODI captaincy duties yesterday. So we can have a new captain who has leg work to experiment.
  • Kohli has been a divisive figure. And from the looks of it, lost the dressing room.
  • Kohli is reactive. No semblance of control over his emotions. That kind of stuff can pump you into scoring a lot of runs as a youngster. Not useful when a captain.
  • I HATE THAT DIGIT INSURANCE DANCE/AD. I wish I could un-see it. He deserves to be sacked just for that.

What about his recent form?  His obvious weakness against spin..  And occupying a vital spot which could keep guys like Kishan/SKy out of the playing XI who are much superior option than him in this format now.

how have they become more vital then kohli in such short career

no they arent superior to kohli, not even kohli. The only guy close to kohli in t20 is KL rahul .

5-10 match khel koi superior nhin hota wo bhi against a guy whose record is basically nothing short of brilliance in the format

To be superior to someone u need to have volume of work

Lol do you hear yourself...  By your logic Kohli should not have made a debut coz Sachin Sehwag & Gauti were killing it when he was picked.   Everyone has a sell date & Kohli is way past it.

Kishan & SKY have done well in limited opportunity they have got in Int'l level which we can't say about most of our players these days & certainly give us more attacking option.  Already we got Rohit as a ultra slow starter & having Kohli there too is a joke.

KL Rahul is a superior batsman than Kohli in T20I since 2017 & there is no comparison between two.  No Kohli is no way near our Top 5 best T20 batsman in the country.  He was best in the world 4-5 years back but now he is a shadow of a player he was.

I understand the continuous bashing of Kohli but I believe our stalwarts who sat out of world T20 really undermined the format which in my opinion is evident with them willingly participating in IPL post Indian title win euphoria.

A dip in form doesnt make anyone past it, biggest of biggest player has gone past it

I have my concerns when it comes to his captaincy but Virat as t20 batsman has an amazing strike rate around 140 mark including last 3 years.

I also agree dancing SpongeBob needs to retire

Why is it hard to understand Rohit and Virat's role compared to Rahul, Pant, Sky, hardik and Jaddu's role are different. Rohit and Virat are to anchor the innings are others to tonk. Despite being anchor Virat still has an amazing SR.

Does Virat have issues ? sure. Should he be in India's t20 team ? 2nd if not first name to be written when selecting Indian team.

yea i dnt like him as LOI captain but as batsman in any format he has been good, t20 he has been nothing short of genius

Every big player will go through this specially after yrs of captaincy burden
