We just can't go in with an attack of Jadeja, Thakur, Shami with Pandya as the 6th option if we want to win big against those sides. 

 

Remember the games are in Dubai so even if we bat out of our skins and get to 180+ batting first, we will still concede 150+ easily with this attack. And even if Panoti's luck with toss ends and we bowl first, this attack is not good enough to restrict them for even 120-130 let alone bowling them out for 80-90 or something. 

 

We must go all out blazing with a bowling attack of -

Ashwin

Shami

R Chahar

Chakravarty 

 

Bumrah and Shami to go all out attack with the new ball in the first 4 PP overs, Varun first change inside the PP, Ash and Chahar throughout the 6-16 over mark. That's the only way we're skittling them out for low scores... 

 

Yes batting will be a touch weak with Ashwin slated to come in at 7 but that's a risk we should be willing to take. In all fairness, 5 batters plus Pandya should be more than enough against the two sides.

We gave away too many runs to Afghanistan afger the position we were in.

 

Could have easily closed it out for 120.

Need to play as many spinners as possible. These Gora Associate teams play pace better than Spin, even against Afghanistan they were skittled for low scores thanks to Afghan spinners. 

 

India should employ same strategy. Bring back Varun and unleash them on these Scots and Namibians. Keep attacking with Ashwin, Chahar from the other end. No room to breath for the associates.

Yes, there are other things that have to go our way but we can still hope. If we can go all out attack with the ball, we can definitely restrict Namibia and Scotland (not good batters against spin) to a 110ish score which can be chased down quickly with due around.

india reaching SF from this position will be a miracle. We found ourselves in a poor group. Can't reach SF with just 3 wins in this group while it is possible in group A. Even if England beat SA, SA can still be in SF with 3 wins, so, can Australia if they improve their NRR. Being in this group is hurting us in reality.

Realistic /= Likely 

 

Please don't tell me that Afghanistan has no chance of beating this NZ side in Abu Dhabi when they almost beat Pakistan in Dubai that too while defending.
