Bumrah's bowling in this T20 world cup

Has anyone noticed that Bumrah wasted the new ball in most games this tournament? Not sure whose genius idea it was but he was looking for block hole from first ball.  This is how you bowl in death overs and not with new ball

 

He is one of the best new ball bowler in the world and should have stuck with his normal line and length. His opening spell was more about trying to contain runs rather than picking wickets.

 

This entire world cup was a debacle and the planning behind it should be questioned.

Brainless. He is getting some  wickets and bowling tight because he is naturally good.

 

However he doesn’t set up batsmen. That is a thing in T20 as well.

 

All he does is run in and bowl a yorker or a bouncer.

 

Wasting his potential in LoI’s. He should have been a Starc level or Malinga bowler who gets multiple 5frs and hattricks in limited overs but in LOIs so far only a 2 trick pony.

this phase of his has affected our odi bowling too, our bowling average in the first 10 overs is the worst of all teams since 2019 i think.

Thinking if its a deliberate ploy by bowling coach/team mgmt to ask him to bowl this way. If true, whoever advised him should immediately be fired.

 

His trash new ball bowling is one of the reason we didnt do well this world cup.

I had opened a thread on how Bumrah goes missing in BIG games.

 

Inspite so many years of experience now - he lacks big game temperament and killer instinct.

But this small sample set was enough to knock us out of world cup

Its not about choking...he bowled beautifully in 2019 WC.

 

Here he is just wasting new ball. Who fires the new ball in block hole from ball 1 unless my understanding of cricket is wrong?

 

Rabada, Cummins or Shaheen dont do that. They  are bowling proper lengths

Swinging Yorkers can be a wicket taking option with new ball. He just didn't get them at the right spot consistently like Shaheen did to Rohit. I remember him cleaning up Gayle with one such delivery.

He is better than Malinga in ODI cricket. Malinga wasn't a great ODI bowler. Better in T20s only. In modern day cricket, it's next to impossible to be great in tests as well as LOIs. No such bowlers exist anymore. It's time we differentiate between formats and play completely different players for different formats instead of expecting them to succeed or have great careers in all formats.

I in fact loved seeing him bowl Yorkers with new ball, got some swing as well. Need to continue doing that. It's a defensive option at death but a wicket taking option with new ball if it swings

India has been bowling defensive lines and lengths with the new ball in white ball cricket for almost 3 years now.  Whoever the bowler is. It's been a team strategy, albeit a horrible one. 

 

I actually liked the sudden yorkers that Bumrah has tried upfront this time.  It can be a wicket taking option at his pace and accuracy plus Indip at times. But I would have liked the other balls to be top of off stump ones. 

 

Another issue I think has been ... Bumrah is losing rhythm rather frequently in white ball cricket in 2021.

Is this the same chahal who was averaging over 40 in international t20s for over 2 and a half year? That's the opposite of reactionary

I loved Bumrah's surprise yorkers with the new ball too.

 

He should keep using it in all formats.

Can't blame a bowler for "knock out" if batting fails 2 games in a row.  Same as ODI WC.  We are wasting Peak Bumrah.

Have u seen his bowling in ODI cricket since WC 2019...  Those are embarrassing numbers for a top bowler.  He has to work heavily on his new ball skill & bowl Test match attacking lines like he does in longer format.

I know Chahal has bowled really well in recent IPL. But this sudden eruption of love for Chahal is funny. This guy has regularly failed in big matches in past 2-3 yrs, is a mental midget.

with 151 to chase, PAK would have lost if Shammi and BUMRAH bowled at their Peak....I am sure of that.
