Starting this thread to see Dravid the coach performance . 
so far he has excelled as a test and odi batter , slip fielder . Wicketkeeper , nca director and human being 

 

issues at hand 

 

tests 

 

- ashwin replacement , jadeja replacement as they age and our home dominance will become an issue 

- slip fielding 

- ageing / fading kohli 

- replacement of rahane - urgent requirement 

- get players like shaw , gill , Rituraj a chance to play and perform 

- maintaining a pool of fast bowlers - avesh , 150 k kashmir kid umar  , siraj are nextgen and time is now to groom them . 
- grooming sundar , shardul , pant . 
- getting a backup to pant - kishan needs games too in tests 

- correct selections 

- Pandya role of any in tests 

- winning the trophy . 
 

odi 

 

- home wc prep 

- ensuring we have quality all rounders - sundar , jadeja , thakur , pandya ( yes for odi if fit ) , nair 

- batting approach in era of 350 plus scores . 
- use of wrist spin - chahar , kuldeep role 

- arresting battting slide of kohli . 
- odi captaincy 

 

t20 

 

- continue the approach taken during ind- england series 

- avoid trundlers 

- select in form players . 
 

other issues - 

 

workload management 

internal conflicts resolution 

allowing more rest , more time for younger players to develop. Disallow few players in top 3 batting positions all the time 

secondary coaches - does he have a bharat arun ?

Kuch nahi honey wala there will just replace some player here and there and keep repeating the same stuff. At least after 2007 we saw a big change but in current indian cricket no change will happen the same failed individuals would represent india in next icc events.

Only way to change is have a young captian and let dravid groom him.  Having a senior will cause lots of resistance, they will have their favorites and dravids power will be diluted

Dravid is an honest and sincere person. He is ethical and hard working. I don’t know Rahul personally but his service to cricket and his clean professional record speaks for itself.
 

Would you rather believe Dravid who is  a millionaire and still minting money via commitments and endorsements living in a bungalow in some posh Bangalore suburb close to NCA, or would you rather believe Rahul Dravid living in some rundown multi- storey building in a 2 bedroom apartment with his 2 kids and his taking care of his old parents and in-laws?

 

I mean I can see Sachin,Virat driving Ferraris or Dhoni on his Harley,Suzuki etc but I think Dravid drives his 800/Chetak scooter to NCA everyday.

It shows he is simple . No issues with sachin driving his Ferrari’s . For all his so called greatness , Sachin has not dont any coaching etc . To be fair though , it’s individual choice . 
 

there is a reason Dravid is perhaps the best cricketer we have ever had . He is the ultimate role model

key points - trying out batters and bowlers who did well in ipl and in form 

 

question- why is b kumar here ??? 
 

my guess is that he is the only swing bowler besides chahar who can bat . 
 

- sa a tour 

 

Dravid hand clear in this squad 

 

saini Malik and porel besides nargaswalla 

shaw and khan there - baba and Gotham as all rounders/ spinners . 
padikkal / eeshwaran snd Panchal 

 

the a team is a decent mix and seems to be geared to keep reserves ready for sa tour 

 

third action 

 

 

dravid wants biobubble fatigue etc reduced . Seems like rotation of at least one third of team for bilaterals etc . This might allow more chances for players . 
 

overall a conservative approach so far .

Coz you dont pick player's based on one season,ye nhi chala to wo try karo wo nhi to ye try Karo you have to show patience, patience guys simar,mavi,koti, Tyagi,arsh, kuldeep, Bishnoi,sanju,all will get chances,wt20 is still 1yr away,so team will continuesly look for right combo

rotation of a third of squad may also help in building bench strength.. 

 

One more point you might add to the OP , would be identification of left arm seamers... during RD's captaincy tenure, we had RP Singh, Zaheer, Nehra, Irfan Pathan. Hardly any now

Think there are a few left Armers . Zaheer as nehra were once in a generation pacers for india . 
hopefully we soon find a new one . Currently we have left arm trundlers mainly .
