Bumrah, Rohit, Pant, Shami rested for NZ tests

Rohit missed tests like in NZ, the pink ball test in Aus and so on. Ind is used to playing without him.

Kohli probably needs a rest to feel mentally better.

Bumrah. We have bowlers who can be effective in India.

Pant. Could have been rested in the T20s and played in the test series.

jayant yadav and shreyas iyer feel like very random selections i must admit, the latter was injured for much of this year. What has he done to get selected in a test squad?

Iyer,is another pain developing in the @ss

Would be interesting to see what will happen if we lose/draw the series because of weak batting. We ere taking home dononation fo4 granted but if there is one team mentally strong enough to make us pay, it's NZ under Williamson

Chance for Rahane to yet again show the world why he's GOAT Asian Test captain. Weakened squad or not Long live the unbeaten streak of Captain Rahane.

Kiwi bowling attack is missing Boult.  So we got only Wagner who can be damaging bowler with his relentless long short barrage.

Southee Jamieson both are right arm bowlers which won't trouble Indians much.

Ajaz Patel is a decent spinner & will trouble Rahane & Pujara.

They missed a trick by not picking Ish Sodhi as Indians are clueless against him.

We have to play KS Bharath if anyone in TM has any sense.  But I am damn sure they'll go with old horse Saha:facepalm:

For Kohli, ideally India lose the 1st Test and win the 2nd when he returns with a solid 30 runs in each innings.

It will guarantee his placed for another 2-3 years.

Why exactly has Shardul Thakur been dropped from both the T20 and Test squads? Was excellent in the tests he played in England,  brilliant in IPL. Two poor WC matches and he is suddenly out of favour?

I think he has been rested. Can't drop him given his importance.

It will hurt India though as there are WTC points and qualification at stake.

ish sodhi has an average 50. india will swat him away in tests. batting in tests vs spin is different to odi and t20 where you are forced to hit or get out.

wagner averages 37 in india. he will get smashed around i feel..

kohli is expecting us to lose so that he can be the saviour. We wont give him the chance to rejoice. hope the goat captian puts an end to that pathetic loser's career.

his test days as captain are numbered. kohli is going to be flatlined soon in all aspects of cricket.

I just hope India dishes out proper pitches. The pitches in Eng series were poor to say the least. Just prepare proper Indian wicket which turns from day 4 onwards.

We didn't get any favors from these "nice guys" last time we were there in their land. I do agree though that better pitches are needed.

So long as it turns on Day 2 onwards, I am good with the pitches, but not on opening day for sure.

if Ashwin could score ton and Pant could strike at 84,the pitches were okay.

Only pink ball Test was tough but that was due to pink ball features

Wouldn't that make batting first too much of an advantage?

Bhai those wickets in Eng home series were a farce. Where is the fun in watching test matches getting over in 2 days? What is the point of winning like this? Just lay a good sporting wicket and trust your team to win it.

That first test loss hurt the "King" so bad that he asked his bosses to prepare a rank turner. And the trend continued for the rest of the series.

It does, but this not like the T20 WC where teams are more or less matched. In Test cricket against a team that is weak against vicious spin, the toss advantage is somewhat negated.
