Given the exponential rise in cases of a new corona variant, I think its almost a certainty that the Indian tour of South Africa is called of.

 

I will be very surprised if it goes ahead.

The ongoing Dutch SA Odi series in SA has been called off in the middle of the series. The Dutch have decided to return back to their country after playing the first Odi.

Reports suggest the BCCI will wait and watch before deciding on the senior men's team's scheduled tour of South Africa.

 

The fourth wave of the pandemic is expected to peak in South Africa in the next few weeks and will coincide with a packed summer schedule. The Indian men's team, which refused to play a Test in Manchester earlier this year because of Covid-19-related fears, is due to play three Tests, three ODIs and four T20Is from mid-December - they are scheduled to leave India on December 8 - while the West Indies women's team will tour the country in January ahead of the Women's World Cup.

I think tour will go ahead..  Although maybe under a biosecure bubble. 

It will be a shame though...  No crowds.  SA crowds are rowdy & make a great atmosphere.  Venues will also be restricted sadly.  All games in Joburg or Capetown maybe.

Thats 5 players, just need 6 more.

The WHO's technical working group is meeting today (Friday, November 26) to assess the new variant and decide whether it is a variant of concern or a variant of interest. It may also decide to give it a name from the Greek alphabet, like it had for its predecessors, Alpha, Beta and Delta.
