So "ordinary" is ridiculing someone ... I can't even believe such low quality posters have taken to this forums

I can see your quality from your OP. Calling a player ordinary, who picked 32 wickets with 5 fifers in 4 matches, shows your level of understanding of the game. You are a  Dumb poster who doesn't deserve any further response.

Without the help of rank turners :p:

If a patient is brought to the Emergency room and has a gunshot wound, and a minor scratch that needs a band-aid, what will the diagnosis and treatment focus on?

Posters like you do not deserve to be in a global sphere ... Limit yourself to talking to those in subcon

Zero understanding of the term "ordinary", context, and then back it up with this typical behavior

wtf does this even mean.

The guy has no idea about context ... He is talking the term "ordinarily" as "ridiculing" someone (or using it to write some dumb stuff on posters who probably do not even know that he exists) which can only be an interpretation of those mainly in subcon

Y'day, someone asked me "how was my day?" ... I said "ordinary" (per these guys, I must have ridiculed the day  )

Folks are allowed 'off-the-cuff' remarks that might deviate from their general position on the game though.

I wasa bit harsh on Zenny especially on the movies front.  Bloke knows his movies.

Does his overly pompous attempt at making a point about conditions and spin bowling have some merit?  I don't think so.

I think Ashwin, Jaddu are bonafide high-class test match spin bowlers.  Obviously they are going to be good at taking advantage of available assistance.  But it is in no way as lop-sided as Zen is trying to presume.

If you can enjoy quality spin bowling, and understand the lines, the setups, the beauty of flight and drift, I'd argue that there's a lot, and I mean a lot, to admire about how Ashwin goes about his business.  Jadeja too.  His execution discipline, setup smarts, are under-rated because it doesn't have the obvious 'sexiness' of a loopy wrist-spin delivery that even a moron can see zip and turn.

It is a bit confusing and 'type' mismatch to see Zen downplay the success of Axar Patel though, being a homeboy and all.  I think it may have something to do with the perception problem.  Some fans don't care about the actual quality of the player, or their contributions, and emphasize perception more.  Axar is a 'boring' wicket to wicket spinner.  He's not a tearaway pacer, not a big hooping wrist-spinner, or a boundary-slugging big batsman - Some folks do tend to get seduced by that type of player more than the 'boring' kinds.  Hey, to each his own.

Axar looked dangerous every time he bowled close to the opposition batsman's pads. There are times where you just get this innate feeling that something is bound to happen. I sense that with bumrah. I feel it with shami and recently with axar. Every ball at times looked venomous.

Bishnoi is another one that looks like he would get an lbw at any stage of the game. You feel that tension course through your veins.

Southee believe it or not terrified me this game whenever he tried to bowl close to the pads. He is a damn good bowler. He has a good record in India, n.z and in Australia. Such an underrated bowler. He has got to be one of the most skilful bowlers in the world without question.

Anyway axar is far from ordinary. Infact he should be part of our odi squad.

Also I must give credit to iyer. I was harsh on iyer but gee he delivered under pressure.

If iyer works on his short ball issue for aussie/s.african wickets he could be a force to reckon with in tests. In odi I don't think he would do all that well unless it's a low scoring game. He would be forced to take on bouncers and he clearly struggles with that.

Sad but not surprising affairs for a country that does not understand sports :((

Your superiority complex is really unwarranted given the number of terrible opinions you spout

Btw any update about the man myth and legend Pujara? When can we expect the new count Dracula thread about his sucking skills

I think you are being more than a bit harsh, rude really.  Unnecessary.

Its your prerogative to not want to carry on a discussion with someone you think is not 'getting' your point.  But is it necessary to be a jackass about it?  I mean, hey I'm guilty of it too at times - it happens.  So not being judgy or anything.

And I have zero desire to play nanny when 2 or more forum bhais get into a phight -  Its your choice, and I can just munch on popcorn.   but I like you as a poster, and this is a bit......... out of character for you.  So sharing my 2 cents.

Sometimes we put thoughts out there that aren't fully fleshed out - part of the 'reasoning' is left in your own mind; which you fill the blanks in with, when you read it.  Others may not see it the same way - even when you have done a half-decent job of explicit explanation.

Thus endeth my gratuitous pravachan. Om Shanti.

@Jay  Edit your unnecessary ethnic slur, it only serves to broadcast your insecurities.   Other mods may be harsher and give you warning points next time.

Come on bhai, be better than that. Don't fling feces on the community forum.  Treat the shared space as your own.

But he is right in the sense that Indian bowlers couldn't finish the job in 100 overs. This wicket was placid. Why did it take so long to get a talented like Somerville out. Tailnenders generally play spin better. Should have used pace vs Somerville earlier.

Day 5 pitch should assist both seamers and spinners. Even though it was fairly fast, there is certainly some help on the surface. We failed in 100 overs

So Axar took a 5-fer on this non rank turner, so he is not ordinary right?

"Sample size"+ bowling to NZ, which struggles in subcon, in familiar conditions ... I do not think he is a special spinner at this point in time ... An ordinary spinner

Since is outperforming Ashwin and Jadeja in India, so "exposing" those two too :hehe:

I understand your context, don't play oversmart, when I say you are ridiculing Axar, I mean you are ridiculing (downplaying) his achievements, along with Ash & Jadeja on rank Turner's, to which you have no comeback. Talking $hite about global spheres, subcon etc etc. Reflects poorly on you, not me. You have some kind of a superiority complex, but their will be people who will show you the mirror, along with the door.

Yes, proud achievements of these spinners on rank turners

"Sample size" ... I do not think he is a special spinner at this point in time ... An ordinary spinner

There's another on this forum who prides himself on his acumen, and repeatedly kept asking how the f did Jaddu become a top test bowler while being "ordinary".

"Special" fans of a certain type are predisposed to liking "special" type of players, and finding those that don't fit pre-conceived notions, as 'ordinary'.

Axar Patel made it to the Indian test XI out of a competing field of dozens of spinners.  If he was "ordinary", guys like Jayant Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem, or a dozen others would be here in his place.

Is he the finished product yet that say, a Jadeja is?  No he isn't.  But then its silly to expect a player with a handful of tests under his belt to be a natural phenom and "extra" ordinary.  Spinners develop their repetoire over years and years of competition.  Axar is on that journey.  Warne at a similar 'age' - in chronology or test matches, was far more 'ordinary' than Axar is.  But OP would never say that about a leggie with half as good a statistical record.  Its ghar ki murgi daal barabar syndrome.

Its just another yawn inducing ordinary opinion of a cricket fan couched in verbiage of self-styled deep 'analysis'.

The problem with pomposity is this - it is a strongly charged electromagnet for derision.
