His LOI career has limited shelf life at this point. He is in good rhtyhm overall.Don't expect runs or great catches from him. If he goes for runs his LOI career will pretty much end right there.

Old Man Ashwin will need to be carefully managed. He is crucial for us in Tests, especially away tests since Axar/Jaddu/etc do well enough at home. His workload should be carefully handled.

I agree with Rohit's reasons for backing him. He can bowl anywhere. In the world T20 semi final vs SA. He bowled inside power play and bowled 16th and 18th over.  In our current team only Sundar can do that. That too i am not sure about his death bowling. But can be used inside powerplay. We underestimate the value of having a bowler that can do that. It allows you to reserve more overs for your seamers in death. You will have more options. Jadeja is good only between 6th and 15th.

I hope Rohit instead backs Sundar, Chahar and Bishnoi and works with Dravid and the India A coaches in getting Kuldeep Yadav back on track. The answer to our defensive bowling unit in LOIs is definitely not another old defensive LOI spinner.
