And this lack probably stemmed from Pant not being able to trust his defence in the same manner since that series against England in India. Since the end of that series, Pant has played seven Tests, all away from home, and has averaged 19.23. Texan Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Pant shouldn't get too comfortable here, there is Ishan Kishan waiting in the wings. I do hope and do think he will do well though. He has shown that ability to play those stellar innings when under pressure.

He has shown that ability to play those stellar innings when under pressure. don't forget bharat. an excellent keeper, and his batting is improving and more suited for long formats. he even has experience with opening, so he can handle new ball too apart from being a good player of spin.

Yep, Bharat's keeping is excellent, but I hope he is not a Saha while batting.

Saha was very good in FC, in fact his stats were better than MSD, Kishan, Bharat if only Ranjis were considered. In int'l cricket, he was definitely not a consistent batter, but an avg of around 30 shows that he wasn't hopeless. In Bharat's case, although his FC avg is <40, I definitely feel his batting is more complete than Saha. The latter had more issues vs. pace, and Bharat is more comfortable navigating it.

nevada Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Aggression is fine but that he has to stop jumping out of the crease against pacers. Boundaries can be hit by staying in the crease too! I hope the coaches tell him to cut out that shot.
urbestfriend Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Ishan kishan is better than Pant as he is natural stroke maker and doesn't try to hack, so I'd definitely start giving chances to Kishan for LOIs so that he can be our #2. Kothili 1
