Two-eyed stance

Mohinder Amarnath used to suck against short balls. Got floored multiple times. The he started adopting two eyed stance. He had one of the greatest Test series by an Indian batsman in Indina history.  Infact two. One against Soda bottle team. One against 4 pronged West Indian seames.

Another guy who adopted this two eyed stance was Azharuddin in mid 90s. If anyone remembers Azharuddin's brutal 102 at the Eden gardens where he smashed Klusner 5 fours in a row that is where it started. Then he went on to make 122 at capetown following year. 

 

Another guy who adopted two eyed stance to negotiate brutal round the wicket line by West Indian bowlers was peter willey an all rounder from England so much so he became a West Indies specialist.  He ended up being more successful with that approach. I mean relative terms. 

 

 

If i remember right Ganguly altered his stance after he was dropped. On his return he looked a lot more solid.  That was more side-on. 

 

 May be guys like Iyer should try this against short ball. Bat swing is a bit natural with this stance

I had two-eyed stance when I used to play and still sucked in facing bouncers.

Reason probably in a normal pull or hook you pivot and your hands are right infront of your body which gives you lesser time to meet the ball.  You need to have great eye and ability to pick up the length very early to successfully handle short ball in a conventional way. Virat, Rohit even Rahane at his best has that coordination in place.  Pujara struggles because he doesn't have enough time to extend his hands to control his shots.   Among the under-19 guys Yash Dul, Angkrish looked comfortable picking the length.  One of the best i have seen ever is Tendulkar picking the length. He even treated good lengths like short balls in the 90s. One pull was his during his 90 against Mcgrath in the world cup against Australia in 1996 is an example. Then in 1992 world cup he pulled  a good length ball from Waqar Younis.

What is the idea here lol Just repel the bowler into bowling trash? This is opposite of two eyed stance lol No eyed stance. His field of vision would be slips haha

Predominantly front foot player. With this wide stance, can't move feet a lot in either direction.

it's to show his butt to the bowler and hope that he gets distracted
