3 against minnows in the world cup and rest 6 at home and bam we are the best T20 team in the world. The WC is in Australia, all these matches really are meaningless to gauge the level of the team

You people are talking as if the Indian team is bursting crackers on their achievement. There's not not even a bloody Tweet by an Indian cricketer about it. They didn't ask ICC to make them play Namibia. No one cares about these rankings except for in Test matches.

 

WI, SL are among only 12 test playing nations. It says something about general lack of competition among top teams but it's not India's fault. I will be bored if we play every series vs. Aus-NZ only.

WI are worse than minnows, they were jet-lagged and barely played with any enthusiasm.

 

You clearly overate India's T20 series win.

there is no proper allround side in t20 cricket right now.. may be Eng comes close if Archer is playing.. you either get lucky with tosses like Finch & Sammy did in 2021 & 2016 or the pitches are too much in favor of one team.. to be frank its only us who are capable of creating an all conditons team ( except for toss disadvantage)

Bongi ranking. 

The Test rankings are justified, the performances were out of this world(until the SA tour).

But T20I, we are nowhere close to where we should aspire to be, in terms of performance.

A true cricket fan is aware that T20 format itself is not real cricket.   How do people expect its ranking to be REAL?   This thread was created to merely state that India are now ranked no. 1.  It never meant that ranked 1 team has to be the best.  LOL.  Why are some posters taking it too seriously?

The thread was rightly started to show how crap and crazy t20 rankings are. Cricket is not an uniform sport more of a bilateral one. This is because it is a team sport. In team sports you ll never have u uniform or equal no of matches being played by a team. You ll always have one team playing more than the other. On top of it , it has three formats. The only team sport which has exactly tried to be all encompassing ie where all can teams can play and kind of getting rid of bilaterals is Hockey with the introduction of FIH Proleague https://www.fihproleague.com  Here your performances as a team are based on the international encounters across all teams.
