Kohli's peak covered up his technical deficiencies and made him appear way better than he actually is. At-least Vengsarkar had the determination to take up the challenge of doing well on moody English wickets and talent to take on spin on rank turners. Lord Kohli can't be bothered with such petty things, he prefers only flat wickets. Link to comment

He averages nearly 60 at home on these spinning wickets even after his three year funk. No other Indian batsmen in history is even close to him. No Sachin, no Gavaskar , no Dravd, they are not even close to this guy at home. Oh dear lord. I could destroy this myth but i have no energy. Kohlis average at home is misleading AF. Pujara is 10x the batsman that Kohli is on home pitches. Kohli heavily statpadded at home against weak teams on flat tracks while failing on almost all tough tracks and tough oppositions...barring a few exceptions. Kohlis in the 2018 away tours was legendary and thats something no one can take away from him. Edited June 12, 2023 by sensible-indian Vijy 1 Link to comment

He has to make comeback to compete with root for next few years. At the moment he is much ahead of kane no matter what stats says. That’s so bad, almost Mongia level batting average, it’s unlikely that he will improve that by much but there is every chance of it getting worse. Stan AF and rollingstoned 1 1 Link to comment
Frustrated
Smith and Chokli both are of the same age(34) and debuted at the same time. The former made his debut as a leg spinner and steadily transformed himself into a batting legend (GOAT). Chokli on the other hand, made his debut as a decent batsman. And has proudly transformed himself into a Full Time Nautankibaaj/Dramebaaz whose only role is to feed instagram stories and reels. And still has no regret/guilt. Link to comment

Sarfaraz needs to be picked and given long rope. Drop Pujara, let Rahane bat at 3 for Wi tour as he scored runs here and may not get dropped immediately. Kohli also needs rest. vvvslaxman
We have to be open-minded about new comers before summarily dismissing them especially looking at wrong formats. If they fail in their strong format after a run fair enough. But discarding even before entering is why we are stuck with these dead woods. Sandz and rkt.india 1 1 Link to comment
RajBan
Kohli is a very Average test batsman at the end of his career. Those 2 years in 2017-18 were massive but otherwise he has been bang average. Infact I have forgotten when is the last time he has played a memorable innings in Test in fighting conditions. Vijy 1 Link to comment
