How is it Root's fault if England have no batting or bowling. They still played Anderson who is 40 years old.He carried that team's batting almost alone for last few years.

People should have sane expectations.Just changing the captain will do nothing.

From the article back then. What a turnaround:

If you look at English cricket at the moment, they haven't got a chairman, there is talk all the time about the chief executive leaving (whether he is or not it is still extremely unsettling), there is no coach, managing director and now no captain. That is the reality of where English cricket at the moment.

They have won one match in the last 17. There is a hell of a lot to do.

The moment Root-a-toot stepped down and stokes took over, Eng looks revitalized. if only some other teams had learnt from them...

Don’t you worry, we have KL Rahul ready to take on the world, because you know why bother with innovation. Also if needed, Dhawan has been shoe horned to lead when KL and Dravid are mentally fatigued from all the planning they’ll be going through for a group stage exit.

it totally did. many were saying from the outset (e.g., Ian chappati) than stokes would be better than root. and the stokes-mcCullum combine is working very well. yes, there will be flops and people will criticize eng harshly, but they are trying to revitalize test cricket genuinely.

Would Shameless Sharma follow his example? Likely not because Sharma isn't quarter the man and the batsman Root is.

He is 1/4th of root the batter and 200% root the human (in terms of body volume) and 10000% that of root in terms of eating vada pavs
