The amount of hostility towards Kohli is not surprising given his arrogance... and his fans behaviour. Dont think even Shastri saw this during the days he used to step out to spinners and pad them

It's because we fans can see that this is tourney is there for the taking and Kohli is holding the team back. Kohli was never an opener. He's not a batter to take advantage of PP overs. He's not someone who can go after bowling from ball 1. Every one of his successful innings in intl cricket has the same template - ease in barely scoring anything off the first few, start scoring at run a ball when set, and then explode towards the end.

Here, Jaiswal is the perfect foil to Rohit. Gives us a left-right combo, we always have someone who can hit into the wind on the leg side, and Jaiswal is a specialist aggressive opener who can take on bowlers in PP. Kohli's selfishness is clearly bringing the team down. When he should be stepping up as a leader for the betterment of the team, he's doing the opposite.

He is more suited for Number 3 in Indian lineup but I don't think it will change now.He has to score runs as an opener.

If he keeps scoring ducks and India keeps winning, he will take it  along with all Indian fans.

He does not become poor batsman based on this world cup nor it will enhance his legacy if he scores runs in both semi final and finals that much..Morons can keep whining  about him.

I don't think opening an innings is his problem, he needs some time at the crease. He cannot go at #3 and take his time cause t20 has changed now. Opening is his best bet now along with sharma. 2 More games to make impact & win wc before they both retire from this format. Hope his best will come in knockouts.

T20 has not changed much in international cricket  . 200 is still a very very good score even on a flattest wicket.

200 plus totals were scored five times in 2007 but 200 has been breached only 4 times this world cup. It was breached only 4 times in 2016.It was breached only twice last time in 2022.

Batting first 170 should be always a fighting total. Kohli is just fine as it is for these totals. He does not have to do anything extra.

The rythm in his batting is missing.

Kohli is not an opening batsman. T20Is have better opening bowlers than the IPL and the pitches are not as dead either.

Kohli is struggling out of position as an opener.

You are ignoring that on these pitches scoring upfront has become most important as no one is able to hit big at death much. Teams are scoring most in power play and most are struggling to hit at death and slowing down in last 4 overs

Hence even more important for top 3 to really hit the gas. In order to score 170, you need to be at least 55-60 in power play and 90 to 95 in the first 10.

Yup. The pitches slow down considerably and scoring 100+ in the back-end of an innings is not doable here. You have to score majority of the runs upfront, especially in the Power Play overs. In fact Kohli would be much better if he comes in at 3 and knocks the ball around in the middle overs. That's his game and will suit these type of pitches. Let someone like Jaiswal score quickly at the top and maximize PP overs.

Kohli is equipped to handle any bowling .He is not Abhishek with low 30 FC avg. He is best batsman on this team .Some low scores does make him a bad batsman.

He should bat at number 3.Pant should open.

Same geniuses were crying about Indian openers before yesterday , so now that Rohit scored in one innings , he does not become better than Kohli.

Maybe he is best but he has never opened regularly in international cricket. It is a different role....He has one or maybe two chances more in this tournament to score as a opener. If he does... congrats to him. If not and esp if we lose, be prepared for brickbats.

For some reason he does not want to bat at 3 or one down.

Freudian slip...  Accept it that he is past his best

Talking about averages in T20 just shows out of touch people are with T20s. Averages count for jack **** in T20, those worshipping averages deserve no trophy. Babar and Rizwan average a lot in T20s too, but its players like Head etc who win trophies,

head averages 32 in T20s, 42 in ODIs and 41 in tests yet has won trophies for Australia than 50+ averaging players.

Abhishek is in the Head mode, Kohli is just a better version of Babar. We always had Kohli like long innings players but very rarely someone like Head. Which is why we win no trophies.

I don't think it's wise to compare Kohli with Abhishek.

Abhishek has formulated his game solely for modern T20's which relies on maximum impact in less balls. Kohli's game is not suited for modern T20, he still plays T20 as a shorter version of ODI's.

If you're looking for a right modern day player to compare with Kohli. Gill fits the bill, he is very similar to what Kohli is. Starts run a ball, gets set and then explode at the end. Rohit in his younger days was much slow to start, but he also was more explosive when set.

T20 Cricket has changed a lot from last 4-5 years since England changed the template. The same Warner who was a beast earlier in T20's won't be called the same as per modern day standards.

My comparision was about handling the bowling.T20 international you still need to handle quality fast bowlers.

A guy low 30 FC avg is not good enough in my view, but he is going to get his chances soon.I will be happy to be proven wrong about him,.

Yes England have changed the template but that template will not work evey where as evidenced by their two losses already.

They just got lucky with tosses last time around.
