We made the mistake of picking Rohit Sharma as captain late when he had already lost his T20 batting and captaincy form. Just as important as it is to pick players while they are in form, it is equally important to pick a captain who is also in good captaincy form. Currently, Rohit Sharma's batting as well as captaincy are both in the doldrums.

So, who do you think should captain the team? We know that many of the IPL captains are likely to be picked in the team (whether they deserve it or not is another question).

Stick with Rohit Sharma?

Bring back Virat Kohli???

Kela anyone? :nervous:

IPL Winner Pandya?

Pant?

Shreyas Iyer?

Pick a complete wild card in SKY (he has captained the Mumbai team before)?

Bumrah?

Take your pick.

If Rohit-Kohli, along w/ Bumrah-Bhuvi, are going to be in the 11, maybe just stick with Rohit, get over with the WC, and move on

In fact even have a team like below:

Rohit

KL

Kohli

S Iyer

Pant

Jadeja

Thakur

Ashwin

Harshal

Bhuvi

Bumrah

India team selections can involve politics, lobbying, nepotism, past reputation, etc., to not fully benefit India in major tournaments … A team like above can lose to strong teams while bashing teams not expected to go to the knockouts  … Watch IPL instead

Tuk tuk rohit  doesn’t deserve a place in the team to begin with. Add to that he is a poor captain as wooden spoon secured and 8 successive humiliating losses shows. NO

virat likewise doesn’t deserve place in the team and is a poor captain too. NO

Iyer not a first choice and SKy too inexperienced as captain and just starting his international career so NO

down to the absolute starters in KL, Pant, Bumrah and Pandu

Pant has proven with DC he is not up to it and Bumrah doesn’t have much prior experience. So NO

Finally down to KL and Pandu. I’d give KL captain and Pandu VC to begin with and if Pandu can keep staying fit and performing for India he should be future permanent captain

PS: Jaddu would have been other contender if he absolutely did not bottle captaincy which he did

After Rohit,i dont see anyone as leader of Indian side

Pant looks very raw as leader, his IPL game has been far lesser than expected since he took over

Shreyas isn't even among the best in his franchise, not an loi batsman in the first place

Rahul is uninspiring, and chooses the safest route of not taking risk which he can

Pandya atleast looked good confident gelling (with the squad),can inspire teammates

Although the sample size is too small, but t20 cricket is all about freshness and shouldn't be based on past laurels, conside the whole pool even the fringest of guys like Rinky,Patidar,Sen,Sai,Mukesh,Simar etc

Pick the the ones who are hot and raring to go and ditch the bitches

To bring SDP (Hardik) as captain, ideally, you also give him a team like below:

Gill

KL

Samson or Hooda or equivalent (someone who can play a high SR knock and his good against bounce)

SDP

SKY

DK

Tewatia or Sundar or Shahbaz or equivalent (someone who can bowl spin and bat well under pressure as the team already has 4 pacers)

Moshin

Umran

Bumrah

Yuzi

As of now it shud be Rohit sharma, he hasnt done any wrong while he has captained national side. Only problem he doesnt deserve a place in side as batsman but TBH even hardik has to do a lot more as player in t20 side . This shud be the last t20 Wc that Rohit shud play and after that give it to Hardik.

pant- i want pant the match winner , not the one who got burdened by leadership

Iyer- not a t20 player in 1st place, ODI career bhi 2023 ke baad khatam ho jayega

Rahul- Rehn do baba

Rohit should have been our captain at least 4 years ago. Instead, we stuck with Kohli, who didn't bring a single ICC Trophy home. The writing should have been on the wall just seeing how Kohli even struggled to get results from an all-star RCB line-up. So, all in all, we were very late in giving LOI captaincy to Rohit. But, we should not repeat this same mistake again.

It is important that we pick a captain in the right moment and not delay them till they are run into the ground. Dhoni became our captain for our World T20 team in 2007, less than 3 years after his debut. All the players I have put in the poll (except SKY, who is more of a wild card) have played international cricket for longer than 3 years. So, lack of experience cannot be a reason to deny them captaincy. We always tend to look at captaincy as needing someone with high levels of maturity that comes with age, but someone more energetic and dynamic might even work similar to the way Dhoni did in 2007.

Also drop chokers in KO games. Your team is good but just drop chokrah dk kela dor important KO in icc tournaments because these 3 or 4 players always choke in crucial kos.

Hardik is the clear winner but we will probably stick with rohit which is fine when the team is still strong. Have sdp as vice for now. Rohit duck and niggle himself out for crucial games anyway. Sdp will have his moment.

Captain doesn't need experience. Only problem is our senior chewts won't obey commands from juniors because they feel entitled. Hardik being mentally strong won't be fazed by the seniors so he is a good choice.

I was thinking bumrah but all his choking pissed me off in icc tournaments so no thanks.

No player who has given up on test cricket at such a young age  should ever be allowed to captain India.

What is the message we are sending?

Just play IPL, remain unavailable for the Indian side 70% of the time and still walk in as captain (not that he has done well even as a player).

In t20s i feel rahul & pant are still ahead of pandya as captaincy choice for future. They might as well try bumrah for short period if required. Pandya might become captain towards the end of his career (33-34) which is what we did with rohit. If pandya does impressive captaincy next ipl then make him t20 captain as he seems better than rahul & pant currently but i doubt our coach, selectors and bcci will take that quick actions.

Captaincy of national team shouldn't be given to someone who has given up on test cricket.

T20 khila lo use.

Vaise bhi he'll have no legacy.
